Term Definition
Adverseimpact Negativeeffectthatgoesagainstdesiredconditions.Whendecidingwhetheradverse
impactsneedtobeaddressedtoachievetheResponsibleSteelStandard,steelmaking
sitesshouldconsiderhowmaterialtheiradverseimpactsare.Materialityhastwo
dimensions:Thesignificancethatthesite'sstakeholdersattributetotheissueandthe
significanceoftheconsequencesofthesteelmaker'simpacts,forexampleonthe
environmentoronhumanrights.
Appeal Requestbytheprovideroftheobjectofconformityassessment(i.e.thecertification
client)totheconformityassessmentbodyoraccreditationbodyforreconsiderationby
thatbodyofadecisionithasmaderelatingtothatobject.

extendedresponsibilityanddescribestheareaofinfluencethatwillbeconsidered
