Versiform ® Forming System

The Versiform forming system is the solutionfor concrete structures when high productiongang forming is required. This standardmodular system, consisting of an all-steelrugged frame with a ¾" high density plywoodface, provides the durability and concretefinish needed.

Versiform isn't just for flat wall gang formingeither. It's complemented by the industry'smost extensive line of timesaving accessoriesto improve overall forming productivity.

The wide range of panel sizes and accessoriesmeans that you'll be able to form pilasters,bulkheads, corewalls, “Y” walls or batteredwalls easily. These are complex formingdetails that aren't possible with some of theother heavy-duty gang systems. Versiform isideal for forming wastewater treatment plants,bridges, piers and other large commercialconcrete structures. Added versatility meansless job-building and more cost savings.

The Versiform forming system is also de-signed and manufactured with a consistentstrength factor, a major consideration for jobsite safety.

The Versiform forming system combination of3" channel crossmembers, special plywood,integral bracing, and load-bearing intercostalsprovides strength that's required for largecontact areas and fast pour rates common inlarge gangformed projects.

Versiform® is available in 30 panel sizes, from8' x 8' to 2' x 1'. This variety of panel sizesavoids the costly and time-consuming as-sembly of supplemental job-built components.

Variety of SizesThere are eight panel widths: 1', 2', 2'-6", 3',3'-6", 4', 6' and 8'. Most panel widths come inall four heights: 1', 2', 3' and 4'. These sizescan be combined efficiently to handle straightwalls, battered walls, “Y” walls and otherforming conditions.

The 8' x 8' panel, 64 square feet per unit, makesetting and stripping particularly productive.

Rental OptionVersiform panels and components are allavailable for rent. There is no need to investin a system that ties up your operatingcapital unless the number of forming projectsrequires ownership.

Quick Panel ConnectionWhen panels are connected to build a gang,the only hardware needed is the contour-threaded Fit-Up Bolt and nut. These samebolts are also used for attaching accesso-ries, limiting the possibility that a worker willaccidentally use the wrong bolt for connec-tions. Contour-threaded bolts resist cloggingand binding from concrete, and workersmove faster with a single-sized wrench,saving time and money.

Walers

Walers transfer concrete pressures from thepanel crossmembers to the wall ties. Whenattached vertically, the walers also align thepanels and stiffen the gang. Walers permitlarge vertical spans between high capacity tiesfor maximum forming productivity.

Both 5" and 8" sizes are available in standardlengths of 4', 8', 10', 12' and 16'. The 5" walersalso are available in a 6' length.

Waler Splice ChannelFor applications in excess of 16', the WalerSplice provides a convenient waler connectionor extension. Combining walers for differentlengths often reduces the total number ofwalers needed on a job.

To produce a 20' gang, a splice can be used tojoin 8' and 12 ' walers, or 16' and 4' walers, orany other size combinations. The SpliceChannel can be bolted on a 12' waler to makea 13' or 13'-6" waler should gang design requirethat particular length.

Waler Splicing on “Y” WallsThe Versiform® system also includes compo-nents that will let you form typical “Y” walls.When you use 45° Waler Splice Sets withstraight Versiform walers, you'll find tremen-dous savings in time, materials and labor. Theload-gathering strength of the walers eliminateslumber blocking and bracing, reducing thematerial and labor required for “Y” wall forming.

Soldier BeamThe Symons Soldier Beam is a versatile,lightweight, 50 ksi steel beam. The SoldierBeam can be used in place of the 8" walerwhen gang weight becomes a critical factor.

Soldier Beams are available in standardlengths of 1'-6", 2', 3', 4', 8' and 12'. Theycan be bolted together to develop a longer,full moment beam. These beams can beused with the Versiform® system for strong-backs, bracing and one-sided concreteforming applications.

Waler StrongbackStrongbacks stiffen and align gangs horizon-tally. Depending on the amount of stiffnessrequired, either the 5" or the 8" waler may beutilized as gang strongbacks and spaced tomaximize tie capacities.

Waler Strongbacks are connected to eachvertical waler using J-Bolts, Plate Washersand 5/8" nuts. Panel Waler Connectors shouldalways be used to provide a safe, positiveconnection between the vertical waler and thehorizontal waler.

J-BoltThe waler connections in the Versiform®

forming system couldn't be easier. Thecontour-threaded J-Bolt is attached to thepanel at 6" increments through holes in thecrossmembers. Unlike systems that useintermediate connecting hardware, the Versi-form connection does not require waler clips,saving labor and time.

Clip RodTo provide added flexibility in waler and tieplacement, the Clip Rod can be used informing situations where opposing panelcrossmember holes do not align. The Clip Rodcan be installed at any point on the channeland provide a convenient way to attach walersin corners or on other unusual details. This isa quick solution to a potential job problem.

Panel Waler ConnectorA simple Panel Waler Connector with ClipAngle is attached using standard fit-up boltsand nuts. This simple connection takes theplace of one J-Bolt on each vertical walerand prevents the waler from “slipping” up ordown on the gang. This positive connectionmakes the gang a safe unit when cranehandling and positioning.

Gang Lift BracketThe Gang Lift Bracket has a certified safe loadrating of 2,000 Ibs. It is easily attached toVersiform® panel crossmembers. The GangLift Bracket is attached with standard 5/8"contour threaded rod and nuts.

Gang Lift Brackets provide safe pick points forcrane attachment and allow quick and efficientmovement of gangs.

Note: The number and location of Gang LiftBrackets must be determined by engineeringanalysis. Consult a Symons Representative.

Waler Lift BracketThe Waler Lift Bracket has a certified safe loadrating of 4,000 Ibs. It is attached to theVersiform waler with two 5/8" x 6" Fit-Up Boltsand 5/8" nuts.

Waler ConnectorThe Waler Connector has a certified safe loadof 2000 Ibs. A minimum of two Waler Connec-tors are required for each Waler Lift Bracket.

The upper Waler Connector is located underthe double crossmembers of two Versiformpanels. The lower Waler Connector is locatedat approximately the mid-depth of the gangunder the double crossmember of two Versi-form system panels.

Symons offers the industry's largest line ofHeavy Duty ties and hardware to complementthe Versiform® forming system.

When 5" walers are used, Symons supplies50 Kip She-Bolts with 7/8" diameter innerunits, or Taper Ties. The strength of theseties combined with the load-gathering abilityof the Versiform panels and walers permits4' x 4' or greater tie spacing in most gang-form applications.

Using fewer ties with each Versiform gangreduces overall labor and material costs.Fewer ties often means less obstruction for theembedments, penetrations and blockouts intypical concrete walls.

To reduce labor even more, 85 Kip She-Boltswith 11/8" diameter inner units, and 96 KipTaper Ties are supplied for use with Versiformgangs using 8" walers. These tie systemsare standard products in the Versiformproduct line.

Adjustable Top TieSmall items can play a big part in making agang form productive and easy to use.Versiform® offers many standard accessoryproducts that are considered custom compo-nents in other systems.

The Adjustable Top Tie assembly, a real timeand money saver, connects opposing Walersand simultaneously functions as a spreaderand a tie. All components are above theconcrete, making the entire assembly reusable.

Spreader ClipThe Spreader Clip is used with 50 Kip TaperTies or She-Bolts. It is a U-shaped plate thatfits over the Cast Bearing Washer and nut,preventing inward movement of the formwork.A tie with spreader clips near the bottom of thegang and one near the top of the gang willmaintain the desired wall thickness beforeconcrete placement begins.

Batter Plate WasherIn the Versiform forming system, tieing iseasily accomplished in forming applicationswhere opposing walers are out of parallel or inbattered wall applications. The slotted openingin the batter plate casting accepts ties thatintersect the walers at any angle from 74° to106°. This eliminates labor intensive shim-ming operations.

Rigid CornerThese components are available in 2', 4' and 8'lengths and are connected using the same 5/8"Fit-Up Bolts and nuts used throughout thesystem. Rigid Corners keep formwork squareat corners with a minimum of labor

Inside Stripping CornerThe three-piece Inside Stripping Cornerelements disconnect and slide inward tosimplify stripping without any gang disassem-bly. Versiform® gangforms with this assem-bly are never “trapped” in a corner after aconcrete placement is completed.

Stripping PanelThe beveled side rails on the StrippingPanels are especially valuable in gangform-ing where there are intersecting walls,pilasters or corners. Gangs assembled withthese components are easily stripped, elimi-nating the labor for disassembly of Versiformgang sections.

Two Inside Half Chamfers can be boltedtogether to form a 135° Inside Corner. TwoOutside Half Chamfers can be bolted togetherto form a 135° Outside Corner. This maxi-mizes inventory utilization and saves the costof additional special forms.

Walkway BracketThe Walkway Bracket assembly provides acertified safe working load of 750 Ibs. Whencombined with lumber planking, toeboards andrails, it provides a work platform in compliancewith OSHA standards and safe worker accessfor pouring.

Attach the walkway assembly to the verticalwalers or the panel crossmembers withstandard Fit-Up Bolts and nuts.

Pipe Form AlignerTo ensure that the gangs are straight andplumb, attach the steel Pipe Form Aligners toone side of the gang. The assembly includesa shoe for anchoring, an adapter to bolt the topend of the aligner to panel siderails or walers,and an integral turnbuckle and telescopingadjustment that permits aligner lengths from13'-9" to 19'-9".

Pipe Form Aligners provide an efficient methodof wall alignment that saves time and elimi-nates wood bracing and waste.

Safety Eye AngleThe installation of Safety Eye Angles onVersiform® panels allows easy attachment ofpersonal fall protection equipment whileworking on forms. Although the installation ofwork platforms is recommended and normallyprovides a more efficient work method, theSafety Eye Angle can be an important optionfor certain forming conditions where fallprotection is needed.

Columns can be easily produced by joiningstandard Versiform® panels and OutsideCorners with 5/8" Fit-Up Bolts and nuts. Thestrength of the Versiform panel designpermits columns up to 4' wide to be pouredwithout ties.

Column HingeUsing Column Hinges instead of a rigid Out-side Corner lets you use ganged column formsto quickly set and strip multiple columns.Like most components of the Versiformforming system, the hinges bolts on withstandard hardware.

Outside “L” CornerThe Outside “L” Corner is primarily used toform columns. Available in 2" x 2", 3" x 3" and4" x 4" face dimensions, they have lengths of4', 6' and 8'.

Forming columns of different or changingdimensions is easy because no additional tiesare required at the corner connection. Thisreduces labor and the associated costs.

Sky-Lift™Sky-Lift is an engineered jump form systemdesigned for use on external elevated concreteforming applications.

Versiform® walers are connected to the Sky-Lift Screw Jack Assembly, an integral part ofthe Sky-Lift System. The Sky-Lift assembly issupported from Jump Shoes bolted to insertsin the previous concrete lift. These features,combined with the 8' wide working platform,allow for stripping and cleaning. All gangformpreparations proceed without a crane.

One-sided Wall FormingStandard 5" or 8" walers allow one-sidedforming when used in conjunction with Diago-nal Brackets, a Corner Bracket, a Shear Plate,a Bearing Wedge and anchors.

The wall height and/or concrete pressuredetermines whether the 5" or 8" walers needsto be used. The 5" walers are used for wallheights up to 10', and the 8" walers are usedfor wall heights up to 12'.

The Double Hinged Corner provides Versi-form® with the flexibility needed to efficientlygangform corewalls.

As the Double Hinge Corners hinge to thefolded position, the corners draw inward 2"from each wall face. This reduces the overallcorner-to-corner length of each gang by 4".With all corners fully retracted, the coreformretains the structural advantages of a rigid box,but allows for stripping.

The coreform is then positioned onto theAdjustable Shear Wall Bracket and supportfalsework previously installed for the nextpour. Costly crane time is minimized be-cause expanding the Double Hinge Cornersback to full coreform pour position can beaccomplished after the crane is released.

Transition CornerThe Transition Outside Corner allowsVersiform to be used with Steel-Ply orMax-A-Form® for bulkheads, columns andother details where forming design flexibility isneeded. One leg of the Outside Corner Angleconnects to Versiform or Max-A-Form withstandard 5/8" x 2" Fit-up Bolts and Nuts. Theopposite leg connects to Steel-Ply withstandard Wedge Bolts.

Transition FillerA Transition Filler allows the use of standardSteel-Ply panels and fillers for details or smallcut-up areas. Standard Transition Fillers areavailable in 6" widths and 2', 4', and 8' lengths.
