In addition to the students and faculty, the staff is an important part of North Baltimore Schools The secretaries and administrators work to keep the school running smoothly everyday. Although they're not often thanked, the staff is a vital part of any school system.

Here we find Joanne Gerdeman removing her coat after arriving to school. Sometimes getting a Jacket into a locker is difficult due
to the limited space.
Above: Denny Stemen, a Penta student. is caught walking with a fnend during his lunch break at
Penta Vocational School. Penta students have the opportunity to meet many new friends outside of
their hometown while learning a specialized trade. Right: Walking to school is one of the many ways
to get to school. Here we see that Greg Atkins, Greg Frost, and Bobby Grilliot find walkmg to
school is best su1ted for them In the background we see that many more students also walk to
school.
Students enjoyed themselves by being high spirited and outgoing. Spirit was one of the most important qualities in the school. The year started slow. but when the boy's varsity basketball team went to tournaments the student body was behind them one-hundred percent. The opposing team had a difficult time outcheering the tiger

fans with painted faces. At pep rallies there was the tradi
tional battlecry. which determined which class, freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. was the most spirited. It was a hardfought battle and the winner was usually a toss-up!
Although students would have preferred it, the year was not filled
with all fun and games. With a new administration and outlook, strict rules were enforced and the academic program prospered Students defined words such as dedication, determination, and hardwork. Students developed a feeling that had not always existed in past years. That was pride!
