2014-15 Teacher Evaluation UpdatesDomain 1: Classroom Strategies & Behaviors (70%) For 2014-15, we formally observed our teachers over 400 times!

The average district score for formal observations was 3.35. NJDOE created a scale:

0.00-1.84 = Beginning 1.85-2.64 = Developing 2.65-3.49 = Applying 3.50-4.00 = Innovative

Administrative Team performed co-observations throughout the school year.

Additionally, we informally visited each teacher’s classroom on a regular basis to provide instant feedback in between formal observations.

For 2015-16, we will continue to practice formal observations and informal visits to support our teaching staff!

Orton Gillingham Training

Partnering with FDU to provide training and certification to ten (10) staff members to our first cohort: 8 teachers/2 administrators

Orton-Gillingham is a direct, multisensory structured, phonetic approach to teaching reading.

FDU will offer the first of four courses in its nationally accredited Orton-Gillingham Teacher Certificate Program beginning in September 2015. The classes will meet once each week beginning at 4:15

pm in the HBW Media Center. Reading Intervention training will occur with twenty

(20) of our 1st & 2nd grade students!
