In all of the derived stems, the first syllable is a closed, unaccented syllable with a normal short vowel.This is achieved via a stem prefix or the doubling of the second radical.Thus, the first syllable is consistantly the same in all of the derived stems.Moreover, you can you can rely upon the stem name for the voweling of the initial syllable.EXCEPTION: Qal 2nd Plurals where the first syllable is a vocalic sheva.
