Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Scientific Comitee, it is an honor to welcome you to XII Serbian Congress of Anes-thesiologists and Intensivists, or as we called it Belgrade Anesthesia Congress 2014. For over the years, Serbian anesthesiology is developing and trying to keep up to date, which is not an easy task in rather challenging times. Our objective was to provide an opportunity to hear experts on different topics, to encourage interaction with other clinicians, and promote work of our residents who are and will be the future of Serbian anesthesiology.

All plenary sessions are chosen from broad range of anesthesiology topics in order to increase our knowledge and fill in practice gaps in some of the most challenging problems. A number of round tables are organized with a help of pharmaceutical companies, as an idea to present and discuss problems with experienced clinicians. Resident`s contest Final four! is organized for the first time in this region, giving the opportunity to junior anesthesiologists to show their skills in presenting some of the anesthesia challenging cases. Hands-on workshops, as a part of pre-congress activity are opportunity for participants to improve skills and clinical competence in difficult airway, ultra-sound use in anesthesia and intensive care and regional anesthesia. Moreover, we host Committee for European Education in Anaesthesiology (CEEA) and their final course in Serbia. Finally, there is opportunity for presenting scientific work during abstract presentations.
