SRI SANKARA GURUKULA VEDA PATASALA
Vedabhavan - Hyderabad
APPEAL FOR CONTRIBUTION FOR BUILDING CONSTRUCTION FOR VEDA PATASALA
¥Ìâzù—Ì¥Ì̘ÌÆ u —ÌÌO™ÌÌOÌœú˜ÌÆ u
Introduction
Namaste. We present the contents of this brochure to you with the
fervent hope that you will participate in our endeavours of Veda
Samrakshanam. The Vedas are the origin of all Dharma (Vedaha Akhila
Dharma Moolam). The great sages were able to codify the Almighty’s
vibrations by their severe penance and keen perception and provide us
with bountiful natural resources and to ensure we lead a peaceful and
contented life. It is important therefore that we nurture the roots of
Dharma, which are the Vedas, so that the tree of civilization with its many
branches gives us many flowers and fruits.
Our Vision
¬ The preservation of our ancient culture and tradition of Oral
Recitation of Vedas in Gurukula System
¬ To promote Higher Vedic Studies such as Veda Bhashyam,
Shadangam, Srowtham, Smartham, Kavyam, Samskritam,
Ithihasa Puranam among the Vidyarthis who have completed basic
Studies.
¬ To Teach the Vidyarthis Mathematics, Social Sciences, Modern
Science and Technological Education and also make them
responsible citizens with Social Values and awareness
Why a New Building
With the Almighty’s blessings and Guru’s guidance, the SSGVP has
attained the status of being a much sought-after Veda Pathashala.
Parents from many parts of the country fervently seek admission for their
sons here. This has resulted in the present strength rising to 150, making
it difficult to manage with the present infrastructure which is inadequate
and also cater to the increasing demand of admission. Inadequate water
supply has also been a matter of growing concern. Our existing Gau Shala
had to be displaced to accommodate the large strength of students. To
provide the best facilities conducive to Vedic education, a new location is
proposed for the new pathashala at Shameerpet. Sri Suri and family have
Sri Gurubhyo Namaha
been generous in donating more than 3 acres of fertile land for this
purpose. The land provided has ample groundwater reserves which we
hope to sustain by deploying rain water harvesting techniques. Solar
power will be harnessed and utilised for providing hot water for bathing,
cooking and also for lighting, telephone connections, etc. We propose to
have a larger accommodation for the students and also re-establish the
Gau Shala. Gau Samrakshanam (protection of cows) has been enjoined as
a fundamental duty in our Vedic texts.
Highlights of the New Patasala
¬ Accommodate 300 students at a single point of time
¬ Gau Shala with many Cows and Calves, vegetable garden, flowering
and fruiting trees
¬ A modern kitchen to provide for fresh, nutritious and traditional food
¬ Medical and Health Facilities the for Vidyarthis
¬ Plenty of open space, clean and natural air for Vidyarthis to play
¬ Yoga and Meditation centre, a library with digitized manuscripts,
technology to learn and teach via Skype/video conferencing
¬ Laboratory to learn, observe, practice and perform traditional rituals
¬ Auditorium to listen to lectures from senior scholars and sanyasis
¬ Living quarters for 20 teachers to pursue a Vedic way of teaching
while also observing their ritual duties like Aupasana and Agnihotra
¬ Accommodation Facil ities for Peethadhipatis and other
Mahapurushas who frequently visit the Pathashala and bless the
Vidyarthees and the Adhyapakas
All the above-mentioned features are envisaged to in a phased manner.
The entire Project is being executed by SatyaVani Projects and
Consultants lead by MD Sri P. Surya Prakash
What our Scriptures Say
हवगधाे गवां रेणुः वेदानां विनरेव च ।
अपगाेदाेहमाेण सव पापैः मुयते ।।
It is said in the Sastras that, all the sins committed will be wiped out
wherever the smoke from the Homas, the dust from the cow hooves and
the sound of the Veda mantras permeate.
All Vidyarthees perform the ritual in the morning and evening with twigs,
worshiping the fire God, Agni. This ritual pleases the Sun God, who
bestows many benefits to us in the form of rains, crops and good health.
अाै ाताितः सयक् अादयमुपितते ।
अादयाायते वृः वृेरं ततः जाः।।
The Sun God is extremely pleased when propitiated by offering
Samidha (Twigs) to Agni, which transforms as the holy smoke and in
turn causes Rains which helps the living beings on the planet get food.
Who we are
We the children of Veda Matha were blessed to pursue our education in
the Gurukula in the homes of our Gurus, who treated us like their own
children. They bequeathed to us, the priceless treasure known as the
Vedas. With their blessings, coupled with our conviction in the Vedic
injunctions, we continued our tradition, at a larger scale. The Almighty’s
grace, has resulted in the our Veda Patashala becoming a reputed one.
Since 1984, the Sri Sankara Gurukula Veda Patashala (SSGVP) has
established itself as an institution of eminence in imparting Vedic
education to deserving students in the traditional Gurukula system. We
are blessed to have been a part of this successful journey. This has been
possible due to teachers, philanthropists, patrons, benefactors, devotees,
institutions and government support.
Our Experience/Achievements
As of 31 March 2018, there have been
¬ More than 150 students who have studied in the Patashala and
passed with flying colours
¬ More than 100 of them have passed the difficult stage of Ghana
¬ 50 have passed the Krama stage which has helped them pursue
stable and comfortable livelihoods
¬ 12 students have gone on to become teachers at other Patashalas
¬ 5 students have successfully passed the Veda Bhashyam exam with
flying colours
¬ 3 of our students have pursued Lakshana Pariksha and have become
Salakshana Ghanapatis
¬ 4 students are pursuing advanced studies in Meemamsa, Nyaya and
other aspects of Shadanga (6 auxiliary branches of the Vedas)
The Vidyarthees are taught the Vedic lessons in a traditional manner of
learning by listening and committing to memory. This pedagogy helps
improving listening skills, memory power and ability to visualise in
abstraction. Such development in the cognitive skills of the students
helps them in adjusting, adapting and thriving in all contexts and
situations.
The Vidyarthees are also given exposure to India’s great epics – Itihasas
and Puranas like Srimad Ramayana, Srimad Bhagavatha and other great
works. This fosters a devotional attitude and provides opportunities to
learn organizing skills. Interaction with devotees and performing duties
like serving and attending to the senior citizens, helps the Vidyarthees
imbibe social interaction skills, empathy and a service oriented selfless
approach. Regular classes in Samskrit, English and Arithmetic help the
students establish themselves in society. During the annual day
celebrations, students enact a play with all dialogues in Samskrit.

and subsequent maintenance. With rising costs we eagerly seek your
benevolent contributions towards Veda Samrakshanam and Gau

Paramacharyal of Kanchi always used to highlight the importance of
getting all the general public involved for any noble cause like Temple
Kumbabhishekams, Veda Samrakshanam and Gau Samrakshanam.
Every donor gets the Punya for generations to come. Hence such acts
should seek the participation of the larger society. This will ensure
benefits to everyone.
कुाै ितित ययां वेदायासेन जीयते ।
कुलं तारयते तेषां दशपूव दशापरं ।।
Our scriptures say that these acts benefit the donor’s 10 generations
prior and 10 generations post in addition to the donor.
We therefore appeal to each and every one of you to take up
Sponsoring this noble cause by contributing to support this noble
