Vecalloy Cr-Free produces a hard wear resistant coating and is very environmentally friendly. Vecalloy Cr-Free is an excellent re-placement for many twin wire arc spray materials because:
Wear and corrosion performance is not compromised with respect to Cr-bearing alloys
Coating integrity and spray is increased through mitigation of dust generation during spray. Vecalloy Cr-Free is a unique product in that it is the only wear resistant twin wire arc spray product which does not heavily rely on Chromium.
DESIGN APPROACH
The design process for Vecalloy Cr-Free involves a proprietary high throughput computational metallurgical process to evaluate millions of candidate alloy compositions. Potential candidates are evaluated using advanced screening processes where both properties and microstructure are measured.
This innovative process allows us to rapidly design the final material with impeccable accuracy—a much more advanced approach than conventional experiment-based methodologies.

Product Overview
Vecalloy Cr-Free is well suited as a replacement for Cr-bearing hardfacing products in a variety of applications. The significant
reduction in dust production allow for consistent high coating quality over a wide application window. The benefit of environ-
mental friendliness does not come at the cost of performance, Vecalloy Cr-Free is suitable for use in any application where hard-
facing products are employed including nanocrystalline and amorphous coatings.

MAINTAINING OR EXCEEDING PERFORMANCE OF CR-BEARING ALLOYS
Vecalloy Cr-Free was compared in side by side trials with standard Cr bearing Fe-based hardfacing alloys such as PMET 270. The
conclusion is that no performance was sacrificed in order to achieve environmental friendliness. The results of these trials are
shown in the table below. Wear resistance is a combination of both particle hardness and general integrity of the coating itself.
The low dust production of Vecalloy Cr-Free produces a consistent high quality coating which equates to increased performance.
The low dust production also brings about the superior finish which can be achieved in Vecalloy Cr-Free through the reduction of
porosity and oxides.
WIDE APPLICATION WINDOW
Vecalloy Cr-Free is designed and tested to ensure a wide application window. A wide application window means that the coating
quality and performance are maintained over the range of conditions in which the material might be sprayed. As shown in the
chart below, Vecalloy Cr-Free maintains a high adhesion over the range of spray angles which might be experienced in the field
