The Difference between a Head Pressure Valve and Variable Speed System
ThevariablespeedECsystemtakestheplaceoftheheadpressurevalveandreducesrefrigerantcharge.TheVSECsystemwillnotonlyprovidestableheadpressure,butbecausethefansarerunningatareducedspeed,
willalsoprovideareductioninenergyconsumption.
How does the Orbus Controller work?
Allofthecommunicationelectronicsnecessaryforvariablespeedarebuiltintothemotorhousing.Tocontrolthespeedofthemotor,ananalogsignal(0-10VDC)issuppliedtothemotor.Themotorinterpretstheanalogsignalandchangesthespeedproportionallytomatchtheinputsignal.
• TheOrbusControllermeasuressystemheadpressure,comparesthemeasurementstotheheadpressuresetpoint,andthroughaproprietaryalgorithmoutputsa0-10VsignaltothevariablespeedECMotor.
• TheOrbusControllerhastwopredefinedsetpointsselectablebyajumper.ForR-404Asystemsthesetpointis150psig.
• TodiagnoseissueswiththeOrbusController,ithasablinkingLEDthatwillprovidestatus/errorcodestoaidintroubleshooting.
IfthereisaproblemwiththeOrbusController,itcanbedisconnectedandthefanswillrunfullspeed.
