They were all inspired by the French artist Jean-François Millet. Discover Millet’s oeuvre and the work of the many artists whom he inspired in their autumn exhibition. Millet’s work inspired the art of numerous well-known artists, such as Vincent van Gogh, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet,

Winslow Homer, Edvard Munch, Kazimir Malevich and Salvador Dalí.

One of the Hermitage greatest treasures is the fabulous jewellery collection. Together with many portraits a profusion of richly decorated gowns and ensemble once worn by the highest echelons

at the Russian court in St Petersburg, they presented two centuries in fashionable jewels. Meet the country’s flamboyant empresses – Anna, Elizabeth and Catherine the Great – as well

as grand dukes and duchesses, tsarinas and noble fashionistas.

Until 2 February 2020“The 700 pieces collection” – STEDELIJK BASE shows highlights in art and design from 1880 to now. The temporary Exhibition is about Chagall, Picasso, Mondrian and a number of other

known and lesser-known immigrants artists in Paris in the years 1900-1950. A story of otherness, of what connects us, and of finding your way in a polarised society and art world.
