Youth Successes
Morgan Davie, a senior at Sarasota High
School was honored at the Sarasota
Coalition on Substance Abuse’s Shining
Star Luncheon. Morgan was the recipient
of the High School prevention award.
Youth Successes
Taryn Darley, a junior at Sarasota High
School and a Drug Free Youth Leadership
Team member , was awarded the 2018
Anne Frank Humanitarian Award. The
award honors outstanding humanitarian
efforts by high school juniors in public
and private schools in Pinellas, Pasco,
Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Manatee
Counties.

a First Place Health Education Award from the
Southern Medical Association Alliance; a 16 state-
member regional organization, for the Drug Free
Sarasota Physician Advocate Program.

Obtained $38,000 in a collaborative grant through Health Resources and
Services Administration (HRSA) and the Community Health Centers of Sarasota
County to help DFS produce and air (4) public service announcements.
Secured $3,000 total from Englewood, Sarasota Memorial & Doctors
Hospitals for the Hospital Advocacy Award.
Purchased $974.30 of materials for the Physician Advocate Award Program
for (10) physicians
Purchased $2,300 worth of media buys to air Drug Free Sarasota Safe
Disposal public service announcements.
Secured $1,700 to purchase DFS Save a Life brochures for the Clergy
Conference and subsequent Community Conference to address opioids.
