Introduction OPTO-LEAP is designed to ensure the end-to-end optical path availability for the optical fiber network, under power supply failure condition. This is achieved via its intelligent optical switch by sensing, availability of incoming DC supply, providing optical signal by-pass switching under power supply failure condition. In normal operation, the switch is transparently incorporated in the system by use of optical patch cords. In the event of power failure the OPTO-LEAP automatically patches the signals through on end-end basis. By deploying the OPTO- LEAP in mission critical applications the end-end communication is always available. The unit restores the local station communication automatically after the input DC supply is re-established. The optical path through this unit is purely optical; i.e. there is no optical to electrical or electrical to optical conversion. There is no electrical loss or electrical bandwidth limit on the fiber optic path. In event of loss of power, the unit has a failsafe mode that returns the switch in to bypass mode. Application OPTO-LEAP provides high degree of protection for Optical data transmission under power failure condition. OPTO-LEAP can freely be used with any optical product in 1310nm/1550nm window. Common application for this unit is optical system by-pass for optical link restoration under power failure Condition.
