We are very excited that it will be our chapter's turn to host the District 12 Fall Regional Conference. Plans are already underway and we have booked the amazing Embassy Suites hotel, located in the heart of Old Sacramento for the weekend of October 21-23. Sacramento has a lot to offer and we're proud that we've found one of our city's showcase hotels that is very centrally located and easy walking access to many of our best tourist attractions. So please save these dates and mark your calendars now! More details to come, of course. As many of you know, putting one of these regional conferences together takes teamwork. We will be asking all of you to help out and volunteer to help with the planning, so we can really impress our guests who will be coming from all over California and Nevada, along with neighboring districts. This Saturday is our next chapter meeting - our Valentine's Day party hosted by Jim and Gerrie Kay. Continued on page 8

What are the dates of the conference? Friday, July 1 to Friday, July 8. Do I need to be a current member of LPA in order to make my Conference Pre-Registration Deposit and hotel room reservation? No. We are requiring a flat amount of $75 for the Conference Pre-Registration Fee whether an attendee is a member of LPA or not. When the full conference book is available in April registration prices will be scaled for members and non-members. However, be aware, that only current members receive printed mailings, i.e. the LPA Today magazine and the full conference registration book. All information will be available online. What is the name and address of the conference hotel? Hyatt Regency Orange County 11999 Harbor Blvd Garden Grove, CA 92840 (714) 750-1234 What is the price of the hotel room? $139 per night, plus applicable tax. How do I make hotel reservations? In order to make a hotel reservation, attendees must first pay a $75 LPA Conference Pre-Registration Deposit to LPA directly. You may pay the deposit online, by phone (1-888-LPA-2001), or by mail. After the $75 deposit is made you will be sent (or given) the link and phone number for the hotel reservation system. One hotel room reservation per deposit. Hyatt reservation agents and the online hotel reservation system will not accept any reservations without your LPA Conference Receipt Code. Will we need an overflow hotel this year? Chances are we will contract for at least one overflow hotel this year. However, two hotels are literally steps away from the Hyatt so distance is no problem at all.

How far from Disneyland, Downtown Disney, and Disney's California Adventure is the hotel? Disneyland is 1.3 miles from the hotel. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the Disney properties. The city of Anaheim also runs busses called the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART). You can purchase a one-day, three-day, or five-day pass for a few dollars per day. http://www.rideart.org

RONALD JAMES GIUFFR‚ Jan. 28, 1963 - Jan. 1, 2011 Ed Note: Ron Giuffr was a long time member of Little People of America. At the time of his death he was living in Durham, near Chico, California. The following obituary appeared in the Chico Enterprise-Register. Ronald James Giuffr‚, Ron to his friends, died of a sudden heart attack on New Year's Day, January 1, 2011. He is with God and his Father, James Joseph Giuffr‚, who passed peacefully on December 18, 2010. Ron was born in San Jose, CA, on January 28, 1963. He lived in San Jose for 44 years, where he attended Willow Glen High School and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Psychology. He spent 20 dedicated years as a caseworker for people with disabilities. He gave them his ears, his hands, his heart and his love.

He was an active parishioner at St. Christopher Church in San Jose, CA for 44 years. He spent the past four years worshiping at St. James Church of Christ in Durham, CA. Ron cultivated broad friendship networks in San Jose, Durham, and Sonoma. The times he enjoyed the most were spent surrounded by good friends, family, and food. He always had an encouraging, kind word or a hug that made you feel 10 feet tall, a remarkable gift for somebody who celebrated being a "little person". He would arrive at a family event and be the target of hugs, kisses and smiles from every member of the family. Everybody wanted to connect with Ron because of how he treated them. Ron married Angie in 1992, and the two of them shared a deep love and great fun over all their married years. The biggest joys in their lives are their sons, Christopher and Michael. He was so proud of their achievements as young men, but more importantly, proud of who they are with their friends and family. He also had a great passion for sports and always cheered on his sons, their friends, and his nieces and nephews. He and his wife, Angie were dedicated fans of the San Francisco Giants; next to marrying his love, and the birth of his two boys, the Giants finally winning a World Series, may be the happiest moment in his life. His bright, infectious smile always stood out when he was out driving his 1985 Chevy or riding his motorcycle. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Angie; his two sons, Christopher and Michael, and his mother, Antoinette of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Karen (Jay) Cook of Monterey, CA, Jim (Jean) Giuffr‚ of Boise, ID, and Patty (Paul) Lindsay of El Dorado Hills, CA. His passion for helping people and his wonderful sense of humor will live through us all. Ronny, your beautiful, warm, loving soul will be remembered and with us always. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 416 Chestnut, Chico, CA, on Saturday, January 8, 2010. If you wish to make a donation please consider donating to a Memorial College Fund for Christopher and Michael. Please make checks payable to: Angela Giuffr‚ Memo: Memorial College Fund Send checks to: Tri Counties Bank P.O. Box 190 Durham, CA 95938 Donations can also be made at Tri Counties Bank website at www.tcbk.com. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.brusiefh.com.
