BE THE CHANGE
Shared Purpose
Our shared purpose is to be the best high school for our communi-ty by providing all our students the finest in rigor, school culture, enrichment, innovation, intervention and preparation.
I wanted to take a moment to thank
everyone for the dedication, kindness
and generosity that the Citrus Hill
family demonstrated. We had over 80
Thanksgiving Baskets for our Citrus
Hill Families. It just reaffirms how
special Citrus Hill is. There is so
much love and dedication from our
adults to our students. We continue
to ensure our families and students,
through whatever uncertainty the fu-
ture may bring, that we continue to be a place that is respectful,
safe, and accepting of all our students and families. We continue to
“Be the Change” we wish to see in our community.
Sincerely,
Nereyda Gonzalez
Principal

Be(ing) the CHange
The writer of The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald once said “There are no second acts in American Life.” By this he meant we don’t give people a second chance in America. He was wrong of course; we love to give people a second chance in this country and the way we do it at Citrus Hill is through Hawktorials. Did you forget to turn in an assignment for math? Got some absences to clear up? Hawktorials can help. Did you blow a test, over-sleep, or have a bad week all the way around? Hawktorials can help. Grab a Hawktorial form in the College and Career Center or the office and ask you teacher if you can make up any missing assignments. If your teacher says yes then you are your way towards turn-ing it around in that class. Sleeping in on Saturdays is over-rated. Invest in yourself and attend a Hawktorial session instead.—B. Gerdes

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! Thank you so much for everyone who helped with our Thanksgiving Food Drive this year. We supported 84 families with baskets full of food and a 12 – 15 pound turkey! These families were so grateful for the support this holiday season and I was so proud of what we were able to do for our community. Thank you to Rachael Melton for helping collect donations for turkeys, going with me to buy 71 turkeys, and contacting families about our drive! Thank you to Andrea William-son for making sure everyone who needed one had a beautifully decorated basket and helping me keep track of all of the baskets being donated. Thank you to Lorena Greco for letting us take over the library and store our baskets. Thank you to the Administrative Team for letting us take over the front conference room and giving us all the support we need to make this drive possible! Thank you to the best Cafeteria workers for storing 13 turkeys in the freezers for the week! Thank you to Kevin Johnston and his ASB team for wrapping and decorating boxes and helping me communicate with families and pass our baskets to families (the kids carried everything to their cars for them!) Thank you to the office staff who helped communicate with our Spanish speaking families and ensure that they could receive baskets as well! Thank you to all the groups and leaders on cam-pus who organized collecting supplies from students and creating the baskets. This drive is a team effort every year and shows the best of what we do for our community! Proud to be a HAWK, Kayla Bui
