Little facts about Sweden:

Sweden is a small nation in a big country, located in North of Europeand North Sea - no fewer than nine million inhabitants in an area largerthan California and nearly as large as France or Spain.

Sweden is also a young civilization in an old country. In past centuries, the country was mainly known for it was constant wars. Since 1814,however, Sweden has lived in peace, which has been the most importantcondition for the build-up of the modern Swedish state.

Sweden today is a modern and internationalized society which is verymuch part of a globalized world and with a constitutional monarchy, inwhich King Carl XVI Gustaf is head of state, but royal power has longbeen limited to official and ceremonial functions.

The simple origins of the Swedes are clearly apparent, however, in ourproud but low-key disposition, close contact with our cultural heritage, popular customs and traditions and, not to forget, a intensive love of ourmagnificent, challenging but lavishly rich Nordic nature.

Sweden Facts:

Capital: StockholmLanguage: SwedishPolitical system: Parliamentary democracy and monarchyPopulation: 9 millionCurrency: 1 krona=100 öreArea: 450,000 km2 (174,000 sq. mi)

Did you know that:Sweden has been named “the world’sleading IT nation 2003" by the Interna-tional Data Corporation (IDT) for thefourth consecutive year.
