Ma Impekhable (with tail out) and Songis Kyla & Ute saying goodbye to their good friends Paul, Pearl, Ma Impekhable, Kyla, Mary, Songis and Ute Pearl with Ma Impekhable and Jamie with Songis...off to an Arrival Paddock Almost there! MA IMPEKHABLE SONGIS Both are beautiful and bonded Arabian mares. Rescued by GRUNE HEIDI FARM RESCUE in Lakeland, Fl when found abandoned on a farm in Ocala...left to fend for themselves for years. Both horses had been show horses with impressive breeding histories but abandoned when age and disabilities made them "useless". They have been fostered since October with friends UTE and her daughter KYLA whose love of horses provided them with expert care and treatment (extensive rain rot) and brought them back to the beautiful mares they are. Dallas is 16 years old and a junior at Santa Fe High School and will be working at the farm full time until school resumes in the Fall after which he will continue working on the weekends. He comes with a full set of farm skills and we think he learned to drive a tractor before a bicycle. We are so grateful to have him here and the retirees look forward to seeing him with their morning feed buckets!. MAKE A DONATION HERE Wildlife Picture of the Month The CICADA (Cicadetta floridensis) It’s the season for our cicadas and we can hear the buzzing. Difficult to spot but they leave behind their brown exoskeletons on tree trunks. This is one Brad found. Only males make that power tool sounding buzzing due to the timbals…drum like body parts…on the sides of their abdomen. They spend most of their lives in trees eating, singing, mating and laying eggs before they die a few weeks later. We love their company …especially since they neither bite nor sting…and are a food source for wildlife. It is very helpful to have some leg protection for a horse that has hard to heal scratches, summer sores, dew poisoning etc on their lower legs. These socks breathe while blocking dirt and insects...the "silver" in the socks creates an antimicrobial barrier that aids in healing and we are grateful to have them available for our pasture living retirees. Buck is a 29 year old Tennessee Walker gelding that was rescued by Rainbow’s Edge Equine Transition Center in Greenville, Fl. He had been cared for and loved for 29 years by his owner until a health crisis created an emergency and an uncertain future for him. Roxanne Spear of Rainbow’s Edge along with their volunteers stepped in to care for Buck until a safe place was found for him. Shelly Hoornstra, a volunteer and trainer at the rescue transported him to RHH. We are so grateful to these front line rescuers that spend time, money, effort and heart in saving these wonderful horses. And RHH is extremely thankful for our volunteers and donors that make a forever home possible for them and to our own team that works with great dedication to giving them the best lives possible. Welcome DALLAS FORD to the Team

RHH welcomes DALLAS FORD to the team!Dallas is 16 years old and a junior at Santa Fe High School and will

be working at the farm full time until school resumes in the Fallafter which he will continue working on the weekends.

He comes with a full set of farm skills and we think he learned todrive a tractor before a bicycle.

Wildlife Picture of the Month

The CICADA

(Cicadetta floridensis)

It’s the season for our cicadas and we can hear the buzzing.Difficult to spot but they leave behind their brown

exoskeletons on tree trunks. This is one Brad found. Onlymales make that power tool sounding buzzing due to the

timbals…drum like body parts…on the sides of theirabdomen. They spend most of their lives in trees eating,

singing, mating and laying eggs before they die a few weekslater. We love their company …especially since they neither

bite nor sting…and are a food source for wildlife.
