Are you coming from the Project Potential morning program or do you just want to eat lunch before the Afternoon Summer Academy?
Join “Lunch Bunch,” and eat in the cafeteria noon - 12:30 p.m. Bring your own lunch or eat the free school lunch! Mrs. Anderson will supervise the
transition to your Afternoon Summer Academy class. Remember: Students must be supervised by a parent during lunch or enrolled in Lunch Bunch.

Join us for summertime reading
at Camp Read-A-Lot! In this
class, you will boost your reading
fluency and comprehension.
Reading skills will be reinforced
through one-on-one instruction
and fun hands-on, camp-themed
activities.
Grades K-6 C. Corrigan
HELP! Phoenix needs heroes to
keep citizens safe! Enter the
world of comic books and learn
about a variety of superheroes.
Discover their true identities,
illustrate their backgrounds and
even create your own hero!
Grades K-8 T. Lancaster
Join this imaginative summer
class and create all kinds of
crafty projects for yourself or
your friends and family! Make
a dream catcher, a wind chime,
a tie-dyed shirt, a cool hand-
crafted bird feeder, a variety of
paper mache’ projects and so
much more!
Grades K-3 J. Fuerte
Do you want to get creative
this summer? ACT NOW and
join this class! You will learn what
it means to be part of a cast and
actually put on a play! Mime,
Improv, character development,
blocking a scene, reciting lines
and story creation will all be part
of the fun!
Grades 3-8 T. Gleash
Girls and boys in this class
will have fun learning about
posture, balance, breathing
and healthy food choices.
Practice a wide variety of
beginning yoga poses and
also create many yummy
and healthy recipes! *Wear gym shoes, bring a water bottle and towel.
Grades 3-8 M. Crutchfield
Get some exercise this summer
and stay cool in the school
gym! Students will participate
in a wide variety of strength,
speed and agility drills in order
to improve overall fitness and
performance. Sports will include
basketball, soccer and even
volleyball!
Grades 1-3 M. Crutchfield
Parachutes, indoor soccer,
water games and much more!
In this active summer class,
you will have the opportunity
to improve motor skills while
exercising and playing favorite
and new PE games!
Grades K-3 B. Byrd
Ahoy, ye pirates! Join the
treasure hunt for math facts!
You will earn gold coins as you
learn about measurements and
money, as well as basic math
facts. Encounter sea creatures
and pirate ships as you sail the
seas and learn Aarrr-ithmetic!
Grades 1-6 K. Luther
Do you enjoy writing creative
stories? In this class, you will write
your own poems, picture books,
comics and other creative stories
by hand or on the computer.
You will have a personal
collection of published writing
to share with friends and family
at the end of this summer class!
Grades 3-7 J. Fuerte

one-of-a-kind pieces like a
denim tote bag or purse, a
decorative pillow, stuffed
animal toys, a bean bag
game and “Sew” much more!

you could play it? Have you
ever wanted to play piano for
your friends and family? Then
join the musical fun and come
learn piano this summer!

Do you have what it takes to
survive in an accident or an
emergency? Join this class and
learn the basic skills to survive
emergencies in the mountains,
desert and arctic areas. Prac-
tice using a real compass, make
a shelter, create a survivor kit of
your own and so much more!
Grades 3-8 B. Byrd
This STEAM Camp will strengthen
your Science, Technology,
Engineering, Art and Math skills!
Research new challenges each
day and solve them through
critical thinking and problem
solving. Don’t miss out!

with foods , sample and use
super sleuthing skills to prepare
healthy meals. Dedication will
be rewarded as you gain your

2016 Afternoon Summer Academy @ Lookout Mountain
Please send water and a small snack with your child each day if he or she is attending two sessions.
If your child plans to eat lunch in the cafeteria before the Afternoon Summer Academy and you will not be
available to supervise, please sign your child up for the Lunch Bunch for only $20.
STUDENTS MAY NOT REMAIN ON CAMPUS UNATTENDED BETWEEN PROGRAMS!
Students are assigned to classes upon receipt of a completed registration form and full payment.
If your class/es are not available, you will be contacted about other class options. Classes are closed when full
or if there are not enough registrations by May 18, 2016. Ask about the WESD refund policies.
All registrations require a self-addressed, stamped envelope. This will be used to send you a confirmation letter
the last week in May, as well as other important information including a summer school map and drop-off/
pickup procedures.
If your child will be absent from summer classes, please call the Summer Attendance Line at 602-896-5900 before
noon each day. Please note: A school nurse will NOT be on duty during these summer classes.
“Grades” refers to the grade students are entering for 2016-17 SY. Cut and retain this top portion for your records.
