Why advertise & Market With Us?

Our goal is to ensure that Welsh Country magazine and website continue to have the highest standards of both content and quality. to be “the” recognised magazine for the whole of Wales, with an excellent

reputation for producing an informative and agreeable read, to be enjoyed by a wide age range.

Welsh Country will create a good and vibrant market for all clients who need advertising, promotion and marketing. in creating this market, the philosophy of sharing and co-operating together with those that work with Welsh Country is paramount to each other’s mutual benefit of developing enthusiastically satisfied customers.

this sharing also extends to those that are selling the title for us, to work together and help grow each other’s business. We want to have a workplace that is trusting and sharing, so that the success of the business is to the benefit of all team members. Any difficulties can be overcome jointly and severally with ease, and achievements can be celebrated by all. We wish to provide a great work environment, treating each other with respect and dignity.

embracing diversity is an essential component in the way we do business, whilst constantly considering our environmental impact, both within the workplace and also as a result of our actions outside the workplace.

We recognise that profitability is essential to our future success, but that all of the above will create a work atmosphere which is friendly, trusting and one of co-operation not confrontation, and one from which all can benefit from the success of the company as a whole.

We offer to all our advertisers the opportunity to use the Welsh Country website (www.welshcountry.co.uk) and its multi-level benefits. All advertisers have a page & a

featured weblink on our website with a short explanation as to its content, directing traffic to their own websites, and the opportunity to publicise themselves on our website.

So what does this mean for your business?the more you can send to us, the more we’ll be able to do for you promotionally!

If you have an offer, a launch, an exhibition, anything newsworthy, then tell us about it. it can be as commercial as you like. We will put this up on the relevant news section of our website as well as format it so it that is more visible to the likes of Google.

all sections - arts, food and general news - are also shown on the front page of our website, so these are then more easily recognised by the web spiders and bots as they have their daily crawl around our website. this will help your company as part of your own website search engine optimisation, as potential customers typing your name in a search engine will then have more chances of finding you. Welsh Country also has its own facebook page, Google+ and twitter accounts plus supporting accounts for technical reasons, ian Welshcountry on facebook and ianWCM on twitter. ensuring that your posts and tweets are distributed far wider than the immediate Welsh Country fans and followers.

every press release that we put onto the website is also tweeted and put onto both Google+ & facebook. add to this the retweeting of tweets from our advertisers and sharing from facebook, and your exposure as an advertiser just grows and grows.

the cost of the magazine advert per year, plus this web exposure, starts from just £16 per month* - now that’s what we call value for money.

*this is the price for a Best of Welsh food listing or a Marketplace advert both costing £150.00 plus vat per year but can be paid by standing order at £16.00 per month. Paying by standing order on any advert carries a £10.00 plus vat admin charge. The numbers: We show you figures that are in the public domain. This also enables you to compare us against other media should they offer any sort of multimedia coverage, and your own website/social media rankings. We actively discourage fake followers, wanting quality fans and followers rather than just creating a large false number.

Numbers change on a daily basis but to give you a snapshot here are our current numbers: (as of 5th July, 2016)

Figures Most publishers use a multiplication factor of circulation figures between 3 and 5 and some lifestyle magazines even use a factor of 7, but these readership figures can never be guaranteed. Welsh Country, because of its quality and eclectic mix of articles, is firstly kept around the home or business for an extended time and if removed tends to be passed on, to end up in dentists’ or doctors’ surgeries etc. it is not unusual for advertisers to receive enquiries about adverts six months after placement. We leave it to you to take whatever multiplication factor you think is realistic for the readership figure, as we feel that whatever figure we quote would be an underestimate.

UPDATEWE ARE NOW ON TWITTER & FACEbOOK @Welsh CountryWelsh Country Magazine

Our Magazine Readership Following an analysis of our subscribers, we found that the results completely reflected the subjective analysis of readers coming onto the Welsh Country tradestand around the country. Because of the geodemographics of Wales in general, taking the NRS social grade definitions often shows a blurred picture, so we have analysed against the Acorn 2003 definitions.

Reflecting the huge appeal of the magazine, readers come from a wide base covering 28 different neighbourhood profiles.

There were three distinct groupings within the profiles: 61% of readers came from the grouping 1 – 11. This includes the definitions wealthy suburbs, villages with wealthy commuters, mature affluent home-owning areas, affluent suburbs, older families, mature well-off suburbs, agricultural villages, home-based workers, holiday retreats, older people, home-based workers, home-owning areas, well-off older residents, private flats, elderly people, wealthy achievers, suburban areas, affluent greys, rural communities and prosperous pensioners, retirement areas, affluent working families with mortgages, affluent working couples with mortgages, new homes.

A smaller but significant grouping of 22% of readers fell into Groups 31, 32 and 34 covering home-owning areas with skilled workers, comfortable middle aged, mature home-owning areas and self employed.

Another significant number fell into the neighbourhood profiles of new home owners - young families.

Our Digital Readership Welsh Country has a slightly higher than average female audience on our digital platforms with 67% female and 33% male audience.

The age range is wide with 41% of our audience aged between 18 and 44 and 48% aged between 45 and 65. The audience is widespread with 8% of the audience from the USA and 6% from the rest of the world excluding the UK. Within the UK the audience is again widely dispersed with a total of 47 towns & cities having significant audiences with Swansea, Cardiff, London, Carmarthen, Denigh, Bridgend, Aberystwyth, Wrexham & rhyl being areas with the larger audiences.

Distribution 1. all the newspaper wholesalers in Wales carry the title, which

allows accessibility for all independent newsagents. Many of the multiple retailers also sell the title, but not necessarily in all stores across the principality.

2. WC is stocked in the majority of Marks and spencer (M&s) and Waitrose in Wales. It is also stocked in 14 out of the 18 sainsbury stores in Wales. Welsh Country is also stocked in many of these multiple retailers in the english border counties as well.

3. subscriptions enable the magazine to have a far wider distribution, with 25% being sent to England and 15% abroad; this has created a solid core of Welsh Country readers. Many of those who became subscribers when the magazine was launched in late 2004 / early 2005 are now in their tenth year of subscription.

4. the Welsh Books Council distributes the magazine to many outlets that are not covered by the newspaper wholesalers, including places like the Millennium Centre, the senedd and the National Library of Wales, as well as many bookshops across the country.

5. We can even ensure that we are on sale in places that are not covered by the normal distribution channels. Museums, galleries, farm shops, coffee houses and visitor attractions all have the opportunity to sell the title, which continues to prove itself as one of our growth areas.

Some free copy is distributed to selected hotels and advertisers. This sector of distribution is strictly monitored and minimised so that it does not encroach on the many sales outlets that Welsh Country has. Geographical distribution varies as to the distribution method, but generally follows the population of Wales.
