The Outing Club House is located next to the John Dewey psychology building on Main Campus. In addition to offering students wilderness trip options almost every weekend of the year, the OC also operates the Outing Club Cabin in Bolton, VT a rustic meeting and training facility. The Outing Club House operates throughout the academic year and summer. It is one of the largest of student organizations at UVM, meeting a diversity of wilderness interest and education. a brief history of the UVMOCOur committed staff of student leaders provides trip organization and instruction for all OC trips and instructional workshops. In addition to extensive personal skill development and previous experiences, all OC trip leaders are required to participate in a comprehensive skill development program. The OC leadership curricula emphasize safety, creation of a positive learning environment (PLE) and sound judgment and decision-making skills. All OC leaders are required to complete a minimum of a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification course. In addition to classroom instruction and skill review, all leadership training requires field practical experiences and final assessment. Upon program completion, new leaders are required

to apprentice trips with senior OC leaders: see back panel for more information!
