• Students hoping for a scholarship should understand that the higher the score the higher the dollar value of scholarships. This is used in conjunction with your core GPA and rank.

• These 3 factors (GPA, rank, test scores) are used to determine the “scholarship” offered to you when you apply to a college. Colleges look at your 6th semester core GPA.

• You are encouraged to look at potential colleges to learn more about how scholarships are given and what scores are expected for admissions. They will share a “freshman profile” that tells you about their current admitted freshman class – that will tell you where to aim!

• Scores can also satisfy requirements for dual enrollment, 720 combined score on both sections

An SAT score – math 560 + reading test of 560 = combined

1120

An ACT score of a 22 or above is used.

What Is the National Merit

®

Scholarship Program?

20

The cut score for National Merit varies from

state to state. Roughly 50,000 of the 1.5

million testers qualify for this recognition.

For 19-20 we have ONE National

Merit qualifier. It is one of the most

highly regarded honors for students to

receive. It leads to being heavily recruited

to highly competitive schools and generous

scholarship offers.

Students are notified in September of their

senior year if they are Commended or a

Semifinalist.
