Using the extended desktop with the
SMART Board Extended Desktop:
The first thing you need to do is
to set up your extended
desktop:
Right click on the desktop
Select Graphic Properties
Multiple Displays
Operating Mode should say Extended Desktop
Primary Display should be the Digital
Secondary Display should be the Monitor
A splitter would have to be set up on the secondary monitor if you want to have two monitors on your desktop and having one connected to your projector.
Moving the SMART Board display to the Extended Desktop
Open up the “orient” screen
Notice that it says “To select another display, press the
space bar”
So hit the space bar to move it from your
primary display to your extended. You can hit the
ESC key when done.
You may want to drag your tool bar to the
extended screen.
Moving pages to the extended screen:
When you work with pages and you wish to have one be displayed on the extended
desktop screen, if it is “maximized”; select “restore down”, and then move the window
by “left clicking” (holding it down) on the main blue title bar and dragging it over to your
extended desktop.
Naturally at this point if you want to maximize the screen you may.
Playing Power Point
Some programs like Power Point will look to display on the primary screen, you may have to find the
settings to adjust it so it will play on the extended screen when you play it.
On the Power Point menu you will find that you can change this setting under the “Slide Show” ribbon,
and where is says “Show On”, select “Monitor 2”.
