Line Maintenance Authorization

Note: EASA uses the term line stations, while the FAA uses the term Line Maintenance Authorization in relation to CFR 145. These terms are synonymous when applied under the terms of the agreement.

Line Maintenance in Europe

Article 4 of the MA: Implementation

FAA certificates will cover: All additional fixed locations located within EU

Member States included in Appendix 2 of the Annex.

Line stations located within any EU Member State as long as they are under the surveillance of an Aviation Authority listed in Appendix 2.

Appendix 1 to the MA: Special Conditions

Both the EASA and the FAA Special Conditions have been updated to reflect the geographic considerations of additional fixed locations and line stations

In addition, a Special Condition was added requiring a procedure to permit work away from the fixed location.

Line Maintenance in EuropeEXAMPLE: Air France (AF) holds an

Air France could have a Line Maintenance contract with a U.S. carrier to perform Line maintenance in Bulgaria.

Note: France is included in the maintenance Annex of the agreement. Bulgaria currently is not.

• EASA AMO 145 approval, and an

• FAA CFR part 145 certificate with Line Maintenance Authorization.

Line Stations in the United StatesFor US Based organisations

The following points are applicable to all line stations, which must be;

a. accepted by the FAA on behalf of EASA,

b. within the scope of approval of the main base,

c. listed in the supplement,

d. covered by the quality system.

Line Stations in the United States

Important Note:

Line stations will only be accepted within the geographic territory of the United States, and

a Form 9 (Surveillance Form) will be requested for each site.

U.S. Based Line Maintenance

• Each location must be covered under the repair station Quality Monitoring System.

• The EASA supplement must detail how the repair station will ensure each line station will be audited to meet the QMS.

• Each location, make & model of aircraft, limitation, and name of customer must be listed in the supplement.
