2. Function 2.1. General Functionality
UT provides wireless communication functions to end user.
1) PPP sessions connected between user devices and an iBurst base station gather and disseminate via PDSN
2) Upstream / downstream power control 3) Base station authentication and exchange of shared secret (iHap) 4) UT authentication (iTap) 5) Encryption/Decryption as Air Security (iSec) 6) Link Adaptation 7) QoS: 4 kinds of QoS (BE, VoIP, VoIP+ and VoIP-PBX) are supported.

2.2. Software The PC software includes PC drivers to allow operation of the UT under a variety of end user devices.
Kyocera provides PC software which is listed in below. Kyocera does not provide it as a setup CD which will be provided with UT as a package for end user. The contents of setup CD should be the software below.
The PC software includes. 1) Device drivers 2) Utility software to monitor UT status
2.2.1. Device drivers This device driver software provides PC-UT interface. After installing this software, PC’s operating
system is able to recognize UT.
2.2.2. Utility software This utility software provides the information about UT status on PC. This information keeps to be
renewed automatically. The information is shown by utility as follows.
a) Link Status
b) Link Speed
c) Frame Error Rate
d) Signal Strength
e) Current Data Rate (Download / Upload)
f) UTID
g) Software version
2.3. Support OS
Software supports the following operating systems.
1) Windows Vista (32bit version only)
2) Windows XP SP2 (32bit version only)
3) MAC OS 10.4 and 10.5 (Intel CPU and PowerPC) Software supports English language.
