Before you start Important Notice• Read the complete operation instruction carefully contributes to better operation.

• Make sure the source device is correct and workable.

• To guarantee data consistency, it is strongly suggested that the capacity of

source and targets should be the same.

• It is strongly suggest to use “Copy+Compare” to achieve perfect duplication.

Safety Precautions• The warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-compliance with theses operating instructions.

• Never turn off the power while processing the firmware update.

• Use only approved power sources.

• The product is only suitable for operation in dry, dust free, clean environment.

• Do not allow liquids or foreign objects to enter. Failure to do so may severely damage your duplicator.

Introduction 1

Introduction1.OverviewThis duplicator series is a high-end industrial standard SATA DOM duplicator that makes DOM duplication fast and easy. There is no computer or additional software required. It supports 1 to 7 targets duplication and high data transfer speed up to 3.9GB per minute. The three different copy modes (System and Files, All Partitions and Whole HDD) can satisfy various needs of duplication; "System and Files" copy mode is a fast copy mode that can copy only data area instead of copying entire source HDD, so it can greatly save elapsing time.

This series supports lots of interfaces including SATA DOM, mSATA, Micro SATA, CF, CFast through suitable adapters, which makes this product applicable on lots of different devices. In addition, it provides smart power control system. When copying is finished, the machine will automatically cut off the power of each port to protect HDD from damage during removal from the duplicator. The power of each port will be only be output when the operation is started. Besides Quick/Full Erase, it provides with DoD Erase and DoD EraseComp, which can completely erase the data from hard drives complying with Department of Defense standard (DoD 5220) and guarantee the data was completely deleted.

2.Features• Support high transmission speed up to 3.9GB/Min.• Support many kinds of interfaces including SATA, mSATA, MicroSATA, CF, and

CFast through adapters.• Automatic power control to protect HDD from the damage during insertion and

removal.• Standalone, no PC or other installation required.• Three duplication modes: “System and Files”, “All Partitions”, and “Whole HDD”

copy modes.• Instant power on and off. Easy to boot up without waiting time.• Easy firmware updating without complex procedure.• Support DoD Erase function which complies with the standard of Department

of Defense.

3.Copy+CompareThis function makes copy first and then compare copied target DOM with the source DOM automatically to ensure the correctness of the copied result.

4.EraseThis function is used to delete the data in your DOM. Please choose the appropriate erase method when you would like to dispose or reuse the DOMs.

DOM Duplicator4. Erase

1.Function [6.3 Erase Master] is to determine if erasing source DOM or not. The default setting is “Disable erase master ”.2.The function can be stopped while processing by pressing [ESC] for about 3~4 seconds.

5.2 Update SystemThis function is used to update the system firmware. Please follow the following steps to execute “Update System”.

a. Select function [5.2.2 Create Update HDD].

[Update System]2.Create Update HDD

b. Format DOM.(Create a 2GB FAT partition)

Do FORMAT HDD#1 Confirm ?

The purpose of formatting DOM before updating system is because creating a 2GB FAT partition can speed up the updating process.

c. Download the BIOS from PC to your DOM.d. Plug in the DOM into the Port#1, and select [Function 5.2.1] to update BIOS.

3 Function Introduction

16

6.Setup6.1 Copy Area

6.1.1 System and FilesIt will copy source DOM’s System and Files instead of the whole HDD. The system will analyze the source HDD and identify the data area to copy. As long as the source DOM’s data within the target HDD’s space, the copy will be processed.

[Copy Area] System and Files

When choosing “System and Files Copy”,only 20G data will be copied, and it just takes 6.2% time compared to “Whole HDD Copy’.The target HDD will be exactly the same as source HDD after copy.

[System and Files] only supports FAT, NTFS and LINUX EXT2/EXT3/EXT4 for quick copy.

6.1.2 All PartitionsThis mode will copy all of the partitions bit by bit including the free space. Thecapacity of target HDD has to be larger than all the partitions.

[Copy Area] All Partitions

Page 17: User Guide V1 - USB Duplicator Ureach SATA DOM Duplicator EN...the Expe rt of Duplicato s SATA DOM Duplicator User Guide V1.0

Function Introduction 3

17

When choosing “All Partitions Copy”,only 120G data will be copied, and it just takes 37.5% time compared to “Whole HDD Copy’.The target HDD will be exactly the same as source HDD after copy.

6.1.3 Whole HDDThis mode will copy the entire HDD, regardless of the content, format, partition, or free space, and it will take much more time to duplicate the source DOM completely.

[Copy Area] Whole HDD

When choosing “Whole HDD Copy”,completed 320G HDD will be copied, and it just takes the longest time. The target HDD will be exactly the same as source HDD after copy.

After copy, the remaining space in the copied DOM can be used by PC for further partitioning.

3 Function Introduction

18

6.2 Skip ErrorThis function can set the number of errors you would like to skip during the copying process.

[Skip Error] 0

If the DOM is very critical for content correctness, it is strongly recommended to keep the Skip Error to be “0”.

6.3 Erase MasterThis function is used to set if erasing the source DOM or not. Please make sure this setting before you execute erase function.

[Erase Master] Disable

[Erase Master] Enable

6.4 Unknown FormatThis function is used to set if copying the unknown format area or not.

6.4.1 Copy UnknownThis setting allows copying the unknown area that the system can’t identify its format.

FAQ 4

21

FAQQ1: Does it need waiting time for boot on and shut down?

A1: This system supports instant power on and off, no need of waiting time.

Thus, you can turn it off when it is not in use.

Q2: Can I interrupt the copy task while it is not finished?

A2: Yes, the program (copy, compare and erase) can be stoop while it is

processing by pressing [ESC] for about 3~4 seconds.

Q3: Will it be safe if I remove the DOM right after copy process?

A3: Yes, the device will automatically cut off power of each port to

protect DOM from damage during removal from the duplicator. The power

of each port will be only be output when the operation is started.

Q4: Except for SATA DOM, can this duplicator copy other HDDs or flash?

A4: Yes, this SATA DOM duplicator can also support SATA HDD, IDE HDD,

mSATA, Micro SATA, CF, and CFast. Most of them need additional

adapters. Please contact your local agent for the accessories.
