1 Introduction
1.1 Scope and Purpose
WelcometotheUserGuideforUSGBoral’sAutodesk®Revit®Add‐in,BIMWIZARD®!Thisguidewillhelpyounavigatethemultipleareasandfunctionsofthisapplicationaswellasunderstandthewaysitmaysaveyoutimeandreducedesignrisk.
TheBIMWIZARD®applicationisapowerfultoolthatstreamlinestheprocessofselecting,designingandcreatingthecorrectUSGBoralwallorceilingsystemforyourprojectrequirements.BIMWIZARD®willrecommendUSGBoralsolutionsbasedonyourspecificationsandseamlesslyaddyourselectiontothefamilylibrarywithouthavingtoleavetheRevitenvironment.

1.3 Installation
Downloadandopentheinstallerfilenamed‘BoralBimWizard.msi’andfollowthestepsontheinstallationwizard.Uponcompletion,theBIMWIZARD®Add‐inwillbeinstalledandavailableonthe‘Add‐ins’ribbonthenexttimeRevitisopened.
NOTE:Upondownloadyoumayreceiveawarningmessagesincetheinstallerisanexecutablefiletype.Thesewarningscansafelybedismissed.

2 System Selection Work Flow
ThegeneralworkflowforfindingthewallorceilingsystembestsuitedtoyourneedsandimportingitintoyourRevit®familylibraryisasfollows:
Step1:Selectwall/ceilingtype
Step2:Filtering(selectperformancecriteria,liningattributesandmiscellaneousoptions)
Step3:Browseresultsandselectdesiredsystem

2.1 Select Wall/Ceiling Type
WhenBIMWIZARD®firstopens,onlythewallandceilingselectorsarevisibleandactive.Selectingfromoneofthesemenusstartsthefilteringprocess.
Tips:
Onlyonewalloroneceilingtypecanbeselectedatatimeandallresultswillbelongtothecurrentsystemtype.
Somesystemsthataren’ttechnicallywallsarefoundinthewalltypemenu,suchas:o Fireclad®externalcladdingo Columnprotectionsystems.
Somesystemswithbothverticalandhorizontalelementsappearinbothmenus,suchas:
o Beamprotectionsystemso Firetunnel™

2.2 Filtering
Tofindthesystembestsuitedtoyourproject’srequirements,utilisethevariousfilteroptionsavailablebelowthesystemselectors.Pleasenotesomeofthefilterswillbegreyandinactivedependingonwhichsystemtypewasselected.Thisisbecausethosefiltersarenotapplicableornotneededforthecurrentsystemtype.
Tips:
Noneofthefiltersneedtobeusedtogetbasicresults,butsomesystemswon’tshowunlesscertainfiltershavebeenactivated.Forexample:
Mostsystemswithspecialattributes,likemouldresistance,won’tshowuntilthecorrespondingattributeboxhasbeenticked
Systemswithinsulationgenerallywon’tshowuntilanacousticratinghasbeenset
StudarrangementsshowmaximumspacingandminimumBMTuntilawallheightorceilingspanhasbeenset
Thefiltersaregroupedintofourareas;PerformanceCriteria,Attributes,AncillaryandAcousticCeilingTiles.
2.2.1 Performance Criteria
Filtersinthisgroupdefineacharacteristicoftheoverallsystemsuchasfirerating,acousticratingorphysicaldimensions.

2.2.1.1 Fire Resistance Level
Thisfilterhasoptionsforloadbearing(XX/XX/XX)ornon‐loadbearing(‐/XX/XX)fireratings.Selectinganon‐loadbearingoptionwillreturnallfireratingsofequalorgreaterdurationbutselectingaloadbearingoptionwillreturnonlyloadbearingfireratingsofequalorgreatervalue(e.g.selecting‐/60/60willreturn60/60/60resultsbutselecting60/60/60willnotreturn‐/60/60results)
2.2.1.2 Acoustic Rating
ThisfiltergivestheoptiontosearchbyeitherRworRw+Ctrvalues.ForsomeceilingsystemsLn,wandLn,w+Clarealsosearchable.Onlysystemswiththeleastinsulation(usuallynone)willshowuntiltheAcousticRatingfilterhasbeenactivated.
2.2.1.3 Max System Width/Tile Width & Max Tile Length
Foracousticceilingtiles,thesetwofieldssetthemaximumdimensionsofanindividualtile(e.g.600x1200).Forallotherapplicablesystems,theleftfieldsetsthemaximumthicknessofthewallorceiling.
2.2.1.4 Wall/Ceiling Pressure
Thisisforsettingthepressureonawallorspanningceiling.ChangingthisfilteronlyinfluencessearchresultsiftheWallHeight/CeilingSpanfilterisalsoused.
2.2.1.5 Wall Height/Ceiling Span
Enteringavalueintothisfieldwilladjustthespacingand/orbasemetalthickness(BMT)offramingmembersinthesearchresultstomakethemstructurallyappropriate.Maximumheights/spansforeachresultcanbeseenintheexpandedresult.
2.2.1.6 Show Max Stud Spacing Only & Show Min Stud BMT Only
Onceawallheight/ceilingspanvaluehasbeenentered,BIMWIZARD®makesadecisionforyouonthemostefficientframingarrangement.Shouldyouwanttoseeonlysolutionswiththemaximumstudspacing,youcanticktheShowMaxStudSpacingOnlyboxandifyouonlywantsolutionswiththeminimumBMT,youcanticktheShowMinStudBMTOnlybox.Refertotheexamplebelow.

Example:
TickingtheShowMaxStudSpacingOnlyboxchangesthestudspacingto600mmcentresandcompensateswitha0.75mmBMT.
TickingtheShowMinStudBMTOnlyboxsimultaneouslychangestheBMTto0.55mmandcompensateswitha76mmwidestud.
Forthesystem,pressureandwallheightspecifiedabove,BIMWIZARD®hassuggested64mmwidestudsat400mmcentreswitha0.50mmBMT.

2.2.1.7 Stud Width & Framing Configuration – NEW!
Thesetwomenusallowforselectionofsystemswithframingthatutilisesspecificstudwidthsorlayouts.Availablelayoutsconsistofcombinationsofindependentstuds,furringchannelsanddirectfixedlinings.
2.2.1.8 Masonry Type, Column Type, Ceiling Fixing Type & Flooring Type – NEW!
Thesefourmenusallowforselectionofaspecificelementinparticularsystems,namely:
Thethickness/typeofmasonryinmasonryupgradesystems
Thetypeofcolumnincolumnprotectionsystems
Thetypeofceilingfixinginsomeceilingsystems
Thetypeofflooringusedoversomeceilingsystems.
2.2.2 Attributes
Filtersinthisgroupdefineacharacteristicofthesystemliningsuchasimpact,moistureormouldresistanceattributes.
TheNotRequiredboxremovesallsystemswithspecialattributesfromthesearchresults(someshowbydefault).Somesystemswithimpactboardsprovidesuperioracousticperformance,soit’sgoodpracticetonotusethisboxwhentryingtomeetacousticcriteria.
2.2.3 Ancillary
FiltersinthisgroupareusedforrefiningsearchresultsbasedonUSGBoralsystemandmaterialnamingconventions.

2.2.3.1 System No.
ThisfilterisusedwhensearchingforaspecificUSGBoralsystem.Aminimumof3charactersisrequiredtoactivatethefilterwhichwillreturnanysystemsthatcontainanexactmatchoftheinputtextintheirsystemreference(firstcolumnoftheresults).
2.2.3.2 Material filters
Thesefiltersareusedwhenspecificliningproductseitherneedtobeused(selectInclude)ormustnotbeused(selectExclude).EngagingmultiplefiltersworkswithanANDlogic(e.g.intheimagebelow,thefilterwouldonlyreturnsystemswithFirestop®/FireWetstop™ANDatleastone13mmliningANDdon’thave13mmMultistop™.
2.2.4 Acoustic Ceiling Tiles
Filtersinthisgroupapplyspecificallytoacousticceilingtilesystems.
2.2.5 General Filter Area – Buttons and Features
Besidesthefiltersinthethreemainareasthereareafewotherfeaturesworthmentioninginthegeneralfilterarea.

2.3 Browse Results and Select Desired System
Onceawallorceilingtypehasbeenselected,youwillseethisareapopulatedwithdesignsolutionswhereeachrowrepresentsaspecificsystemarrangement.
Theresultswillupdatedynamicallyasyouengagevariousfilters
Resultsatthetopofthelistarethemostrecommendedsolutionsforyoursetofdesignrequirements
Themoredetailyouinput,thebetteryoursolutionswillbe.
Leftclickanywherewithinarowtoseeadditionalinformationincluding:

Rightclickanywherewithinarowtobringupthecontextmenuandsavetheselectedsystemtoafavouritesfolder.
Tips:
Multiplerowsmaybeexpandedsimultaneously,butonlythehighlightedrowiscurrentlyselectedforsavingtoRevitorafolder.

2.4 Saving to Revit
Onceyou’vefoundthesolutionyouwant,you’rereadytogeneratethesystemandaddittoyourRevitlibrary.Therearetwooptionstodothis,youcanSaveToRevitorDrawInRevit.
2.4.1 Save To Revit
TheSaveToRevitbuttonwillexporttheselectedsystemtoRevitasawallorceilingfamilytype.
Thisoptionworksbetterifyouwanttoaddmultiplesystemsinonesitting.
Tips:
SinceRevitisnottheactivewindowwhileusingBIMWIZARD®,exportedsystemsareaddedtoaqueue,thengeneratedwhenRevitismadetheactivewindowagain.Youcanchecktheexport’sprogressinRevit’sstatusbar.
2.4.2 Draw In Revit
TheDrawInRevitbuttonwillminimiseBIMWIZARD®andactivatetheRevitwallorceilingsketchtoolwiththeselectedsystemsothatyoucanplaceitinyourprojectimmediately.
Thisoptionworksbetterifyouonlyneedtoaddasinglesystemanddon’twanttosearchthroughtheRevittypeselectorlater.

2.5 Tabs
Withthelatestrelease,BIMWIZARD®has2xnewpagesprovidedtomakethedesignprocessasconvenientaspossible:theFolderspageandtheSolutionspage.
2.5.1 Folders Tab
TheFolderspagecanbeaccessedanytimebyclickingtheFoldersTabatthetopoftheBIMWIZARD®window.Thispageisusedforstoringandorganisingsystemsforlateruse.ItwillinitiallybeunpopulatedbutsystemscanbeaddedtoitfromtheBIMWIZARD®mainpageortheSolutionspage.Thebelowimageisanexamplefolderstructureinthefolderspage.
2.5.1.1 Folder tree
Initially,therewillbeasingle,emptyfolderherebutfoldersandsubfolderscanbeeasilyadded,renamed,copiedordeletedusingthecontextmenu(rightmouseclick).
2.5.1.2 Saved Wall, Ceiling and Acoustic Ceiling Tiles Areas
Theseareasarewherethesavedsystemsoftheactivefolderappear.ThecolumnsandrowsherebehavethesameasintheresultsareaofthemainBIMWIZARD®page,allowingeachsystemtobeexpandedandsavedtoRevitwiththeSaveToRevitandDrawInRevitbuttons.EntirefolderscanbesavedtoRevitatoncebyrightclickingontheappropriatefolderinthefoldertreeandselecting‘SaveAllToRevit’fromthecontextmenu.

Ifthisboxisunticked,onlysystemswithintheselectedfolderwillbevisibleintheSavedSystemsareas.Iftheboxisticked,allsystemsinanysubfolders(includingnestedsubfolders)willappearaswell.
2.5.2 Solutions Tab
TheSolutionspagecanbeaccessedanytimebyclickingtheSolutionsTabatthetopoftheBIMWIZARD®window.TheSolutionspageisspecificallyfortheearlystagesofdesignwherenotallthedetailsrequiredfordetailedwallandceilingspecificationmightbeknown.TheSolutionsWizardhas3stepswhereminimumrequirementsforsatisfyingBuildingCodeofAustralia(BCA),AustralianStandardsandindustrybestpracticearedetermined.
2.5.2.1 Step 1
InStep1,theproject’sbuildingclassisselected.ConsulttheBCAfordeterminingtheappropriatebuildingclass.
2.5.2.2 Step 2
InStep2,theproject’sconstructiontypeisdeterminedbasedonthenumberofstoriesselectedand/orthebuildingclassselectedinStep1.Donotincludeanystorieslocatedfullybelowground.Forstorieslocatedpartiallybelowgroundoratthetopofthebuildingandusedonlyforutilityandliftplantpurposes,consulttheBCA.
2.5.2.3 Step 3
InStep3,theproject’sprimaryframingsystemisidentifiedasSteelorTimber.

2.5.2.4 Solutions
Onceall3stepsarecompleted,asetofresultswillbedisplayed.Eachtypeofsystem(i.e.externalwall,shaftwall,spanningceiling,etc)isgiventheirownfieldofresultswhicharefurthercategorisedbytheiruniqueadvantage(i.e.mosteconomical,highperformance,etc).ThecolumnsandrowsherebehavethesameasintheresultsareaofthemainBIMWIZARD®page,allowingeachsystemtobeexpanded,savedtoRevitwiththeSaveToRevitandDrawInRevitbuttonsand/orsavedtoafolderwiththecontextmenu(rightmouseclick).

3 Options The‘About’windowhasgrownintoanoptionsmenuforBIMWIZARD®userpreferencesandadvancedfeatures.
3.1 General Options
3.1.1 Auto‐Minimise
Undergeneraloptionsthereisacheckboxtotoggleauto‐minimise.Whenthisboxisticked,BIMWIZARD®willautomaticallyminimiseitselfwhentheDrawInRevitbuttonisselected.

3.2 Advanced Features
BIMWIZARD®hasseveralauxiliarytoolsavailabletohelpfurtherstreamlinethedesignanddocumentationprocess.
3.2.1 Wall/Ceiling Revit Family Naming Tools
BIMWIZARD®includesawaytoautomaticallyrenameallsystemsitgeneratesaccordingtotheuser’spreferences.Thereareseparatetoolsforwallsandceilingssothattheycanfollowdifferentstandardsifrequired.Thereisalsotheabilitytoexportandimportthestandardssotheycanbestoredorshared.Belowisanimageofthewallnamingtoolatitsdefaultsetting.
3.2.1.1 Name Fields
Thevalues(namefields)foundinthisareadeterminehowBIMWIZARD®willnamegeneratedRevitfamilies.Thedefaultvaluesare‘DefaultName’and‘ModelNumber’.These2values,inthisorder,givethestandardUSGBoralnamingconvention.The‘DefaultName’valuecanberemoved,butthe‘ModelNumber’valuecannot.ThisistoensureeverygeneratednameisuniqueasBIMWIZARD®willnotgenerateafamilyifoneofthesamenamealreadyexists.AddnamefieldstothisareafromtheavailableandcustomfieldareaswiththeirrespectiveAddbuttonsandremovenamefieldsfromthisareawiththeRemovebutton.
Tips:
YoucanidentifytheDefaultNamepartofthestandardUSGBoralnamingconventionbyitsendingtext,“_USGBoral_”,everythingafterthisisthesystemmodelnumber

4 Customisation OnceplacedwithinaRevit®project,changestoUSGBoralsystemsarenotrecommended.Changestothewallstructuremayvoidthefirerating,acousticratingand/orahandfulofotherparametersassociatedwiththesystem.ItisalwayssafertoreturntotheBIMWIZARD®interface,findthecorrectsystemandreplacetheincorrectone.
NOTE:thereareelementsthatcanbechangedafterfamilytypegenerationwithoutvoidingthesysteminformation.Someoftheseelementsarelistedbelow:
RevitFamilyTypename–Thisisonlyasuggestednamingconventionandcanbereplacedbyyourownwithoutlosinganyinformation.
