8 NSDI initiatives in Ukraine
National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in Ukraine is a strategic goal in line
with open data initiatives. It will ensure:
Simultaneous updating of geospatial data
Timely access to the essential geospatial information
Following the best practices and integration into the
EU informational system
Possibility for effective governmental decision-making
Contribution to E-Government initiatives
Timely reaction for possible emergency situations

9 What’s been done and next steps
Draft Law on NSDI is developed and submetted by
StateGeoCadastre
Launched the JICA funded Pilot Project on NSDI Prototype
Approve the Law on NSDI and Cabinet Resolution for NSDI
operation and maintenance
Expand the results of the Pilot Project on NSDI for the whole
territory of Ukraine
Established an NSDI coordination committee (ad-hoc)

“Creation of National Spatial Data Infrastructure in Ukraine”

Partners from Ukraine:
Beneficiary: State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography & Cadastre
Recipient: State Land Cadastre Centre
Objective:
To develop NSDI system prototype for the pilot territory with possibility to expand the system to
the whole territory of Ukraine. Approximate budget – $2.6 mln. Duration – 2 years.
Partners from Japan:
Donor: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
Consultants: Kokusai Kogyo, PASCO Corporation
Project area:Pilot territory: Vinnytsia district (app. 1000 sq.km)
NSDI Prototype area: 11 sq. km.
