    New School of Law Building

    This project is to construct a new facility for the School of Law. The projectwas previously approved for design and acquisition of property with abudget of $10 million funded with Capital Improvement Bonds. The new

    facility will contain 187,500 gross square feet and will accommodate aprogram with an enrollment of 660 students. It will be located on propertyowned by the University in the block bordered by Senate, Bull, Gervais, andPickens Streets. Construction is scheduled to begin in Summer 2014 withprojected completion in Summer 2016.

    Hamilton College Renovation

    Subject:

    The project was previously approved for design with a budget of $300,000funded with Capital Improvement Bonds. This project will renovate the wingof the building parallel with Pendleton Street and add an additional floor inthe gymnasium. Renovations will include a complete mechanical, plumbing,and electrical infrastructure. This area will consolidate the College of SocialWork. Mechanical, electrical and finish upgrades are proposed for the wing

    parallel with Pickens Street. This wing will be predominantly used by thePsychology Department. The total project area is approximately 58,000square feet. Windows will be refurbished and an extensive amount ofdeferred maintenance is addressed with this project. Construction isscheduled to begin in May 2014 with projected completion in August 2015.

    Administrative Project Increase(s)

    In accordance with the policy approved by the Board of Trustees,administrative approval was obtained to increase the budget for thefollowing project(s):

    Baruch Marine Field Laboratory Roof/Mechanical ReplacementThe project budget for the Baruch Marine Field LaboratoryRoof/Mechanical Replacement was increased by $49,500. Theproject to replace the roof was bid with two components. The basebid to replace the membrane roof systems and the alternate toreplace the asphalt shingle system exceeded the constructionbudget. It is important that both components of the roofing systembe replaced at the same time to ensure a water tight system. Theincrease was required to provide adequate funding to award thetotal construction contract and to provide a construction

    contingency.The increase was funded with Institutional funds from the Collegeof Arts and Sciences and resulted in a total budget of $544,500funded entirely with Institutional Funds from the College of Arts andSciences.
