Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surfacewater is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean highwater mark. Do not contaminate water when disposing ofequipment washwaters or rinsate.

fSurface Water AdvisoryThis product may impact surface water quality due torunoff of rain water. This is especially true for poorlydraining soils and soils with shallow ground water. This product is classified as having high potential forreaching surface water via runoff for several monthsafter application. A level, well-maintained vegetativebuffer strip between areas to which this product isapplied and surface water features such as ponds, streams, and springs will reduce the potential loadingof aminocyclopyrachlor from runoff water andsediment. Runoff of this product will be reduced byavoiding applications when rainfall is forecasted tooccur within 48 hours.Ground Water AdvisoryAminocyclopyrachlor has properties andcharacteristics associated with chemicals detected inground water. This chemical may leach into groundwater if used in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

PERSPECTIVE® herbicide is a dispersible granule that ismixed in water and applied as a spray. PERSPECTIVE®herbicide may be applied by ground equipment only, exceptfor rights-of-ways which may also be applied by helicopter, for control of broadleaf weeds, including many terrestrialand riparian invasive and noxious weeds. PERSPECTIVE®is registered for general weed control on private, public andmilitary lands as follows: uncultivated non-agricultural areas(such as airports, highway, railroad and utility rights-of-way,sewage disposal areas, etc.); uncultivated agricultural areas -non-crop producing (such as farmyards, fuel storage areas, fence rows, non-irrigation ditchbanks, barrier strips, etc.);industrial site's - outdoor (such as lumberyards, pipeline andtank farms, etc.) and natural areas (such as wildlifemanagement areas, wildlife openings and wildlife habitats).PERSPECTIVE® may be used for the release or restorationof native perennial grasses and in established, industrial turfgrasses.

This product may be applied to terrestrial non-crop sites andunimproved turf sites that contain areas of temporarysurface water caused by collection of water, in equipmentruts, or in other depressions created by management

activities. It is permissible to treat intermittently flooded lowlying sites, seasonally dry flood plains and transitional areasbetween upland and lowland sites when no water is present. It is also permissible to treat marshes, swamps and bogsafter water has receded, as well as seasonally dry flooddeltas. PERSPECTIVE® may be applied up to the watersedge. Do not apply directly to water.

PERSPECTIVE® provides preemergence and/orpostemergence control of the broadleaf weeds species listedin the weeds controlled section of the label. For perennialspecies on the label, a postemergence application must beused. For best postemergence performance, add a highquality adjuvant to the spray solution. Excessive wetting ofthe target plant is not necessary but good spray coverage ofthe target plant is needed for best results.

PERSPECTIVE® is non-corrosive to spray equipment.

Do not apply more than 11 ounces of product per acre peryear. Do not apply more than three times per year.

BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY

PERSPECTIVE® is quickly taken up by the leaves, stemsand roots of plants. The effects of PERSPECTIVE® may beseen on plants from within a few hours to a few days. Themost noticeable symptom is a bending and twisting of stemsand leaves. Other advanced symptoms include severenecrosis, stem thickening, growth stunting, leaf crinkling, calloused stems and leaf veins, leaf-cupping, and enlargedroots. Death of treated broadleaf plants may require severalmore weeks and up to several months for some woody plantspecies.

PERSPECTIVE® is rain-fast at 4 hours after application.

IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS• Do not apply this product in areas where the roots of

desirable trees and/or shrubs may extend unless injury orloss can be tolerated. Root zone areas of desirable trees orvegetation are affected by local conditions and can extendwell beyond the tree canopy.

• Do not apply this product if site-specific characteristicsand conditions exist that could contribute to movementand unintended root zone exposure to desirable trees orvegetation unless injury or loss can be tolerated.

• During periods of intense rainfall, applications made toroadsides or other non-crop areas, to soils saturated withwater, or soils through which rainfall will not readilypenetrate may result in runoff and movement ofPERSPECTIVE®. Do not apply PERSPECTIVE® whenthese conditions exist.

• Do not make applications when circumstances favormovement from treatment site.

• Do not apply or otherwise permit this product or sprayscontaining this product to come into contact with anynon-target crop or desirable vegetation.

• Do not apply in or on dry or water containing irrigationditches or canals including their outer banks.

• Do not apply through any type of irrigation system.

c fi/uDo not contaminate water intended for irrigation. Toavoid injury to crops or other desirable vegetation, do nottreat or allow spray drift or run-off to fall onto banks orbottoms of irrigation ditches, either dry or containingwater, or other channels that carry water that may be usedfor irrigation purposes.

Treatment of powdery, dry soil and light, sandy soilswhen there is little likelihood of rainfall soon aftertreatment may result in off target movement and possibledamage to susceptible crops and desirable vegetationwhen soil particles are moved by wind or water. Injury tocrops or desirable vegetation may result if treated soil iswashed, blown or moved onto land used to produce cropsor land containing desirable vegetation. Do not applyDuPont™ PERSPECTIVE® when these conditions areidentified and powdery, dry soil or light or sandy soils areknown to be prevalent in the area to be treated.

Do not apply when the soil is frozen or covered withsnow.

Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, orsimilar areas.

Do not use- this product in the following counties ofColorado: Saguache, Rio Grande, Alamosa, Costilla andConejos.

SPRAY DRIFT RESTRICTIONSAERIAL APPLICATIONS (Helicopter on Rights-of-WaysOnly)

When applying by air, apply only using nozzles which willdeliver coarse or greater (VMD >350 microns) droplets asdefined by ASABE S572 standard. Do not release spray at aheight greater1 than 10 feet above the ground or canopy unlessa greater height is required for aircraft safety. Do not applywhen wind speed is greater than 10 mph. Do not apply duringa temperature inversion. The boom length must not exceed90% of the rotor blade diameter.

For aerial applications near susceptible crops or otherdesirable plants, use a drift control additive as recommendedby the manufacturer, or apply through a "Microfoil" or "Thru-Valve" boom, or use an equivalent drift control system.

Thickened sprays prepared by using high viscosity invertsystems or other drift control systems may be utilized if driftcontrol is comparable to that obtained with drift controladditives or the "Thru-Valve" boom. If a spray thickeningagent is used, follow all recommendations and precautions onthe product label. Do not use a thickening agent with the"Microfoil" boom or other systems that cannot accommodatethick sprays.

GROUND APPLICATIONS

When applying by ground, apply only using nozzles whichwill deliver coarse or greater (VMD >350 microns) dropletsas defined by ASABE S572 standard. Do not apply with anozzle height greater than 4 feet above the ground or canopyunless necessitated by the application equipment. Apply withthe spray boom or nozzle height as low as possible. Do notapply when wind speed is greater than 10 mph. Do not applyduring a temperature inversion.

See Spray Drift Management Section of this label foradditional information.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS

• Certain species may, in particular, be sensitive to lowlevels of PERSPECTIVE® including but not limited to,conifers (such as Douglas fir, Norway spruce, ponderosapine and white pine), deciduous trees (such as aspen,Chinese tallow, cottonwood, honey locust, magnolia, poplar species, redbud, silver maple, and willow species),and ornamental shrubs (such as arborvitae, burning bush, crape myrtle, forsythia, hydrangea, ice plant, magnolia, purple plum and yew).

• Injury or loss of desirable trees or vegetation may result ifPERSPECTIVE® is applied on or near desirable trees orvegetation, on areas where their roots extend, or inlocations where the treated soil may be washed or movedinto contact with their roots. Consider site-specificcharacteristics and conditions that could contribute tounintended root zone exposure to desirable trees orvegetation. Root zone areas of desirable trees orvegetation are affected by local conditions and can extendbeyond the tree canopy. If further information is neededregarding root zone area, consult appropriate stateextension service, professional consultant or otherqualified authority.

• Injury to or loss of desirable trees or vegetation mayresult if equipment is drained or flushed on or near thesetrees or vegetation, or on areas where their roots mayextend, or in locations where the chemical may bewashed or moved into contact with their roots.

• In non-crop areas adjacent to desirable vegetation, avoidoverlapping spray applications and shut off spray to thespray boom while starting, turning, slowing or stopping toavoid injury to desirable vegetation.

• Applications made where runoff water flows ontoagricultural land may injure or kill crops, such as but notlimited to sugar beets, potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco, soybeans, field beans, alfalfa, grapes, peaches, almonds, and vegetables.

• Applications should be made only when there is little orno hazard from spray drift. Very small quantities of spray, which may not be visible, may seriously injuresusceptible plants.

• Exposure to DuPont™ PERSPECTIVE® may injure orkill most crops and may injure or kill desirablevegetation. Injury may be more severe when the crops ordesirable vegetation are irrigated.

• Caution is advised when using this product in areas whereloss of desirable conifer or deciduous trees and/or shrubsas well as other broadleaf plants, including but not limitedto, legumes and wild flowers, cannot be tolerated.Without prior experience, it is necessary that small areascontaining these plants be tested for tolerance toPERSPECTIVE® and its soil residues before any largescale spraying occurs.

• Low rates of PERSPECTIVE® can kill or severely injuremost crops. Following a PERSPECTIVE® application, the use of spray equipment to apply other pesticides tocrops on which PERSPECTIVE® is not registered mayresult in their damage. The most effective way to reducethis crop damage potential is to use dedicated mixing andapplication equipment.

• Leave treated soil undisturbed to reduce the potential forPERSPECTIVE® movement by soil erosion due to windor water.

• In the case-of suspected off-site movement ofPERSPECTIVE® to cropland, soil samples should bequantitatively analyzed for PERSPECTIVE® or any otherherbicide which could be having an adverse effect on thecrop, in addition to conducting the field bioassay.

• PERSPECTIVE® may suppress or severely injure certainestablished grasses, such as some bromegrass andwheatgrass species, especially when the grass plants arestressed by adverse environmental conditions. Areas thatcontain these grass plants should recover as enviromentalconditions for good grass growth occur.

FIELD BIOASSAY

To conduct a field bioassay, grow to maturity test strips ofthe crop you plan to grow the following year. The test stripsmust cross the entire field including knolls and low areas.Crop response to the field bioassay will indicate whether ornot to plant the crops grown in the test strips. If no cropinjury (such as, poor germination, stunting, or chlorosis, malformation, or necrosis of leaves) or yield loss is evidentfrom the crops grown in the test strips, the intendedrotational crop may be planted. If herbicide symptoms oryield loss is observed do not plant the crop.

TANK MIXTURES

PERSPECTIVE® herbicide may be tank mixed with otherherbicides which are registered for the same use sites, methods of application and timings as specified on thisproduct label. Refer to the tank mix product label for anyadditional instructions or use restrictions. In addition, include a spray adjuvant with PERSPECTIVE® whenmaking postemergence applications. Refer to the adjuvant

label for additional instructions or use restrictions. Whentank mixing, use the most restrictive label limitations foreach of the products being used in the tank mix.

ADJUVANTS

Methylated Seed Oils and Vegetable Oils: A methylatedseed oil (MSO) or vegetable oil based adjuvant may provideincreased leaf absorption of PERSPECTIVE®. Include theMSO or vegetable oil adjuvant at 0.5% to 1% v/v (2 quartsto 1 gallon per 100 gallons of spray solution).

Non-ionic Surfactants: Use a non-ionic surfactant at aminimum rate of 0.25% to 0.5% v/v (1 to 2 quarts surfactantper 100 gallons of spray solution). Surfactant products mustcontain at least 70% constituents effective as sprayadditives.

Crop Oil Concentrate (COC): Apply petroleum-basedcrop oil concentrate at 1% v/v (1 gallon per 100 gallonsspray solution) or 2% under arid conditions.

• Oil adjuvants must contain at least 80% high quality, petroleum (mineral) or modified vegetable seed oil with atleast 15% surfactant emulsifiers.

INVERT EMULSION APPLICATIONS

PERSPECTIVE® may be applied as an invert emulsion. The spray solution results in an invert (water-in-oil) sprayemulsion designed to minimize spray drift and spray run-off, resulting in more herbicide deposited on the targetfoliage. The spray emulsion may be formed in a single tank(batch mixing) or injected (in-line mixing). Consult theinvert chemical label for proper mixing directions.

INVASIVE SPECIES MANAGEMENT

This product may be considered for use on public, private, and tribal lands to treat certain weed species infestationsthat have been determined to be invasive, consistent with theFederal Interagency Committee for the Management ofNoxious and Exotic Weeds (FICMNEW) National EarlyDetection and Rapid Response (EDRR) .System for invasiveplants. Effective EDRR systems address invasions byeradicating the invader where possible, and controlling themwhen the invasive species is too established to be feasiblyeradicated. Once an EDRR assessment has been completedand action is recommended, a Rapid Response needs to betaken to quickly contain, deny reproduction, and if possibleeliminate the invader. Consult your appropriate stateextension service, forest service, or regionalmultidisciplinary invasive species management coordinationteam to determine the appropriate Rapid Responseprovisions and allowed treatments in your area.

RESISTANCE

When herbicides that affect the same biological site ofaction are used repeatedly over several years to control thesame weed species in the same site, naturally-occurringresistant biotypes may survive a correctly applied herbicidetreatment, propagate, and become dominant in that field.

Adequate control of these resistant weed biotypes cannot beexpected. If weed control is unsatisfactory, it may benecessary to retreat the problem area using a product

raffecting a different site of action. To better manageherbicide resistance through delaying the proliferation andpossible dominance of herbicide resistant weed biotypes, itmay be necessary to change practices such as using acombination of retreatment, tank-mix partners and/orsequential herbicide applications that have a different site ofaction. Weed escapes that are allowed to go to seed willpromote the spread of resistant biotypes. It is advisable tokeep accurate records of pesticides applied to individualsites to help obtain information on the spread and dispersalof resistant biotypes. Consult your agricultural reseller, consultant, applicator, and/or appropriate state agriculturalextension service representative for specific alternativecultural practices or herbicide recommendations available inyour area.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT

This product may be used as part of an Integrated PestManagement (IPM) program that can include biological, cultural, and genetic practices aimed at preventingeconomic pest damage. IPM principles and practicesinclude field scouting or other detection methods, correcttarget pest identification, population monitoring, andtreating when target pest populations reach locallydetermined action thresholds. Consult your state cooperativeextension service, professional consultants or other qualifiedauthorities to determine appropriate action treatmentthreshold levels for treating specific pest/crop systems inyour area.

PREPARING FOR USE- SITE SPECIFICCONSIDERATIONS

Understanding the risks associated with the application ofDuPont™ PERSPECTIVE® is essential to aid in preventingoff-site injury to desirable vegetation and agricultural crops. The risk of off-site movement both during and afterapplication may be affected by a number of site specificfactors such as the nature, texture and stability of the soil, the intensity and direction of prevailing winds, vegetativecover, site slope, rainfall, drainage patterns, and other localphysical and environmental conditions. A careful evaluationof the potential for off-site movement from the intendedapplication site, including movement of treated soil by windor water erosion, must be made prior to usingPERSPECTIVE®. This evaluation is particularly criticalwhere desirable vegetation or crops are grown- onneighboring land for which the use of PERSPECTIVE® isnot labeled. If prevailing local conditions may be expectedto result in off-site movement and cause damage toneighboring desirable vegetation or agricultural crops, donot apply PERSPECTIVE®.

Before applying PERSPECTIVE® the user must read andunderstand all label directions, precautions and restrictionscompletely, including these requirements for a site specificevaluation. If you do not understand any of the instructionsor precautions on the label, or are unable to make a sitespecific evaluation yourself, consult with your local DuPontCrop Protection representative, local agricultural dealer, university cooperative extension service, land manager,

professional applicator, agricultural consultant, or otherqualified authorities familiar with the area to be treated. Ifyou still have questions regarding the need for site specificconsiderations please call 1-888-6-DUPONT.

NON-AGRICULTURAL USES

NON-AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements in this box apply to uses of this productthat are not within the scope of the Worker ProtectionStandard (WPS) for agricultural pesticides (40 CFR Part>170). The WPS applies when this product is used toproduce agricultural plants on farms, forests, nurseries, orgreenhouses. Terrestrial non-crop weed control is notwithin the scope of the Worker Protection Standard. Seethe Product Information section of this label for adescription of noncrop sites.Do not enter treated areas until sprays have dried.

PRODUCT INFORMATIONNON-CROP SITES

Apply PERSPECTIVE® preemergence or earlypostemergence when broadleaf weeds are activelygerminating or growing. PERSPECTIVE® can provide longterm control of susceptible weeds. The length of control isdependent upon the application rate, condition and growthstage of target weeds, environmental conditions at andfollowing application, and the density and vigor ofcompeting desirable vegetation. Best results for long termweed control occur where grasses and other vegetation isallowed to recover from adverse environmental conditionsand compete with susceptible weeds. Do not apply morethan three times per year.

PERSPECTIVE® may also be applied using low and highvolume ground spray equipment. PERSPECTIVE® may beapplied by helicopter on rights-of-ways only.

LOW VOLUME APPLICATION

See Table 1. PERSPECTIVE® Spray Volume and Use RateMixing Instructions chart. Adjust PERSPECTIVE® sprayconcentration according to the spray volume per acre andthe size and plant density of the target weed species. Usespray nozzles and pressure that will aid the properdeposition of the spray solution. Apply in sufficient sprayvolume to insure uniform spray distribution of sprayparticles over the area to be treated and to avoid spray drift.

HIGH VOLUME APPLICATION

High volume applications may be applied at rates equivalentto broadcast rates up to 11 ounces product per acre per year.Apply PERSPECTIVE® in sufficient water to ensurethorough and uniform wetting of the target site. For bestresults, add an adjuvant to the spray solution. See Table 1.PERSPECTIVE® Spray Volume and.Use Rate MixingInstructions chart.

INDUSTRIAL TURFGRASS(UNIMPROVED ONLY)

Application Information

Apply PERSPECTIVE® for selective weed control inunimproved, well established industrial turfgrasses onroadsides, utility rights-of-way, airports and other non-cropsites. Use a surfactant at the rate of 1 to 2 pints per 100gallons of spray solution. Treatments made prior to the fullgreen-up stage may delay ,green-up. A temporary yellowing

and/or stunting of the turfgrass may be observed followingan application of PERSPECTIVE®.

Apply PERSPECTIVE® by ground equipment only. Use aminimum of 10 gallons of water per acre. The addition of anMSO adjuvant may increase the potential for turfgrassinjury. In addition to conventional spray equipment,PERSPECTIVE® may also be applied with invert emulsionequipment. When using an invert emulsion, mix theprescribed rate of PERSPECTIVE® in the water phase.

For turfgrass species that are not listed on this label, determine the suitability for such uses by treating a smallarea at a labeled application rate. Prior to treatment of largerareas, the treated area must be observed for any signs ofherbicidal injury during 30 days of normal growingconditions to determine if the treatment is safe to the targetspecies. The user assumes the responsibility for any plantdamage or other liability resulting from use ofPERSPECTIVE® on a turfgrass species not listed on thislabel.

Excessive injury may result when PERSPECTIVE® isapplied to turfgrass that is under stress from drought, insects, disease, temperatures (winter injury) or poorfertility.

occur to industrial and roadsides turfgrasses from applications ofPERSPECTIVE®. •

• Applications to bermudagrass, Kentucky bluegrass and tallfescue industrial and roadside turfgrasses can cause transientstunting, yellowing and/or seedhead suppression. To reducethese transient symptoms, make application later in the springafter new growth is 4 to 6 inches tall or make application in thefall.

1. Do not apply PERSPECTIVE® to this turfgrass species unlesspotential turfgrass injury can be tolerated. Do not apply more.than 2.0 ounces of PERSPECTIVE® per acre. Use surfactant atthe rate of 0.5 to 1 pint per 100 gallons of spray solution.

f2. For crested and western wheatgrasses and smooth brome the

injury (stunting, seedhead suppression) at the higher rates duringthe season of application may be severe. Areas that contain theseturfgrass plants should recover as environmental conditions forgood grass growth occur.

SPECIFIC WEED PROBLEMS: COGONGRASS

In roadside turfgrass sites, apply DuPont™PERSPECTIVE® at a minimum of 5 ounces per acre forseedhead suppression of cogongrass. For cogongrass control(stand reduction), apply PERSPECTIVE® at 10 to 11ounces per acre. Multiple applications will be required forbest control. Best results when applied after final seasonalmowing of roadsides. Make applications in the fall prior tofrost (applications generally begin in September).

NON-CROPLAND RESTORATION

PERSPECTIVE® may be used for the control of manybroadleaf weeds in unimproved industrial turf, on roadsides, airports, industrial sites or on other similar non-crop sites inorder to establish or release desirable introduced or nativeperennial grass species for site stabilization.

To maximize'and extend the weed control provided byPERSPECTIVE®, it is critical that other vegetationmanagement practices, including mowing, fertilization, etc.,be incorporated into the restoration program to help extendor build on the weed control benefits and promote thegrowth of introduced or established grasses and/or desirableplants or plant communities.

During the season of establishment, only applyPERSPECTIVE® after introduced or native perennialgrasses are well established. The grass must have a goodsecondary root system and show good vigor.PERSPECTIVE® may suppress certain established grassesespecially when the grass plants are stressed by adverseenvironmental conditions. Temporary reddening, stunting, droopy or twisted leaves may occur. Do not applyPERSPECTIVE® to grass under stress from disease, insects, drought, or other environmental causes.

Apply PERSPECTIVE® at 1.75 to 5 ounces product peracre in the fall, before the soil freezes, or in the spring afterthe soil thaws. When applied at lower rates,PERSPECTIVE® provides short-term weed control; whenapplied at higher rates, weed control spectrum is broadenedand extended.

WEEDS CONTROLLED

For heavy weed infestations or hard to control species, usethe higher herbicide, adjuvant and spray volume rates. Donot apply more than 11 ounces product broadcast per acreper year.RATE 1.75 to 2.75 ounces per acre

SPRAY EQUIPMENT

Low rates of DuPont™ PERSPECTIVE® can kill orseverely injure most crops. Following a PERSPECTIVE®application, the use of spray equipment to apply otherpesticides to crops on which PERSPECTIVE® is notregistered may result in their damage. The most effectiveway to reduce this crop damage potential is to use dedicatedmixing and application equipment.

Ground

Use a sufficient volume of water to ensure thoroughcoverage when applying PERSPECTIVE® as a broadcast ordirected spray. Select a spray volume and delivery systemthat will ensure thorough coverage and a uniform spraypattern. Be sure the sprayer is calibrated before use. Avoidoverlapping and shut off spray booms while starting, turning, slowing, or stopping to avoid injury to desiredspecies.

Air (Helicopter on Rights-of-Ways Only)

PERSPECTIVE® may be applied aerially by helicopterspray equipment only on rights-of-ways. However, do notmake application by air unless appropriate buffer zones canbe maintained to minimize potential spray drift out of thetarget areas.

Select a spray volume and delivery system that will ensurethorough coverage and a uniform spray pattern. Be sure thesprayer is calibrated. Avoid overlapping and shut off spraybooms while starting, turning or slowing to avoid injury todesired species.

The application volume required will vary with the heightand density of the brush and the type of applicationequipment.

In general, aerial application spray volumes range from 15to 25 gallons per acre.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fill the tank 1/3 to 1/2 full of water.

2. While agitating, add the required amount ofPERSPECTIVE®.

3. Continue agitation until the PERSPECTIVE® is fullydispersed, at least 5 minutes.

4. Once the PERSPECTIVE® is fully dispersed, maintainagitation and continue filling tank with water.PERSPECTIVE® must be thoroughly mixed with waterbefore adding any other material.

5. As the tank is filling, add tank mix partners (if desired)and then add the necessary volume of spray adjuvants.Always add spray adjuvants last.

6. If the mixture is not continuously agitated, settling willoccur. If settling occurs, thoroughly re-agitate beforeusing.

7. Apply PERSPECTIVE® spray mixture within 24 hoursof mixing to avoid product degradation.

8. If PERSPECTIVE® and a tank mix partner are to beapplied in multiple loads, pre-slurry PERSPECTIVE® inclean water prior to adding it to the tank. This willprevent the tank mix partner from interfering with thedissolution of the PERSPECTIVE®.

SPRAYER CLEANUP

Thoroughly clean all mixing and spray equipment followingapplications of PERSPECTIVE® as follows:

1. Drain tank; thoroughly rinse spray tanks, boom, andhoses with clean water.

2. Fill the tank with clean water and 1 gallon of householdammonia (contains 3% active) for every 100 gallons ofwater. Flush the hoses, boom, and nozzles with thecleaning solution. Then add more water to completely fillthe tank. Circulate the cleaning solution through the tankand hoses for at least 15 minutes. Flush the hoses, boom, and nozzles again with the cleaning solution, and thendrain the tank. Equivalent amounts of an alternate-strength ammonia solution or a commercial cleaner canbe used in the cleanup procedure. If a commercial cleaneris used, carefully read and follow the individual cleanerinstructions.

3. Remove the nozzles and screens and clean separately inbucket containing cleaning agent and water.

4. Repeat step 2.

5. Rinse the tank, boom, and hoses with clean water.

6. Dispose of the rinsate on a labeled site or at an approvedwaste disposal facility. If a commercial cleaner is usedfollow the directions for rinsate disposal on the label.

Caution: Do not use chlorine bleach with ammonia asdangerous gases will form. Do not clean equipment in anenclosed area.

Notes:

1. Always start with a clean spray tank.

2. Steam-clean aerial spray tanks to facilitate the removal ofany caked deposits.

3. When PERSPECTIVE® is tank mixed with otherpesticides, all cleanout procedures for each product mustbe examined and the most rigorous procedure must befollowed.

4. In addition to this cleanout procedure, all pre-cleanoutguidelines on subsequently applied products must befollowed as per the individual labels.

SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENTThe interaction of many equipment and weather-relatedfactors determines the potential for spray drift. Theapplicator is responsible for considering all these factorswhen making application decisions. Avoiding spray drift isthe responsibility of the applicator.

8

IMPORTANCE OF DROPLET SIZE

The most effective drift management strategy is to apply thelargest droplets which are consistent with pest controlobjectives. The presence of sensitive species nearby, theenvironmental conditions, and pest pressure may affect howan applicator balances drift control and coverage. Applyinglarger droplets reduces drift potential, but will not preventdrift if applications are made improperly or underunfavorable environmental conditions.

A droplet size classification system describes the range ofdroplet sizes produced by spray nozzles. The AmericanSociety of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (AS ABE)provide a Standard that describes droplet size spectrumcategories defined by a number of reference nozzles (fine, coarse, etc.). Droplet spectra resulting from the use of aspecific nozzle may also be described in terms of volumemean diameter (VMD). Coarser droplet size spectra havelarger VMD's and lower drift potential.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - GROUNDAPPLICATION

• Nozzle Type - Select a nozzle type that is designed forthe intended application. With most nozzle types, narrower spray angles produce larger droplets. The useof low-drift nozzles will reduce drift potential.

• Pressure - The lowest spray pressures recommended forthe nozzle produce the largest droplets. Higher pressurereduces droplet size and does not improve canopypenetration. When higher flow rates are needed, using ahigher-capacity nozzle instead of increasing pressureresults in the coarsest droplet spectrum.

• Flow Rate/Orifice Size - Using the highest flow ratenozzles (largest orifice) that are consistent with pestcontrol objectives reduces the potential for spray drift.Nozzles with higher rated flows produce coarser dropletspectra.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - AIRCRAFT

• Nozzle Type - Solid stream, or other low drift nozzlesproduce the coarsest droplet spectra.

• Number of Nozzles - Using the minimum number ofnozzles with the highest flow rate that provide uniformcoverage will produce a coarser droplet spectrum

• Nozzle Orientation - Orienting nozzles in a manner thatminimizes the effects of air shear will produce thecoarsest droplet spectra. For some nozzles such as solidstream, pointing the nozzles straight back parallel to theairstream will produce a coarser droplet spectrum thanother orientations.

• Pressure - Selecting the pressure that produces thecoarsest droplet spectrum for a particular nozzle andairspeed reduces spray drift potential. For some nozzletypes such as solid streams, lower pressures can producefiner droplet spectra and increase drift potential

BOOM LENGTH (AIRCRAFT), ANDAPPLICATION HEIGHT

• Boom Length (aircraft) - Using shorter booms decreasesdrift potential. Boom lengths are expressed as apercentage of an aircraft's wingspan or a helicopter'srotor blade diameter. Shorter boom length and properpositioning can minimize drift caused by wingtip or rotorvortices.

• Application Height (aircraft) - Applications made at thelowest height that are consistent with pest controlobjectives and the safe operation of the aircraft willreduce the potential for spray drift.

• Application Height (ground) - Applications made at thelowest height consistent with pest control objectives, andthat allow the applicator to keep the boom level with theapplication site and minimize bounce, will reduce theexposure of spray droplets to evaporation and wind, andreduce spray drift potential.

WIND

Drift potential is lowest when applications are made in lightto gentle sustained winds (2-10 mph), which are blowing ina constant direction. Many factors, including droplet sizeand equipment type also determine drift potential at anygiven wind speed. AVOID GUSTY OR WINDLESSCONDITIONS.

Local terrain can also influence wind patterns. Everyapplicator is expected to'be familiar with local wind patternsand how they affect spray drift.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY

Setting up equipment to produce larger droplets tocompensate for droplet evaporation can reduce spray driftpotential. Droplet evaporation is most severe whenconditions are both hot and dry.

SURFACE TEMPERATURE INVERSIONS

Drift potential is high during a surface temperatureinversion..Surface inversions restrict vertical air mixing, which may cause small suspended droplets to remain closeto the ground and move laterally in a concentrated cloud.Surface inversions are characterized by increasingtemperature with altitude and are common on nights withlimited cloud cover and light to no wind. They begin to formas the sun sets and often continue into the morning. Mist orfog may indicate the presence of an inversion in humidareas. Inversions may also be identified by producing smokeand observing its behavior. Smoke that remains close to theground, or moves laterally'in a concentrated cloud underlow wind conditions indicates a surface inversion. Smokethat moves upward and rapidly dissipates indicates goodvertical air mixing.

SHIELDED SPRAYER

Shielding the boom or individual nozzles can reduce theeffects of wind. However, it is the responsibility of theapplicator to verify that the shields are minimizing driftpotential, and not interfering with uniform deposition of theproduct.

SENSITIVE AREAS

Making applications when there is a sustained wind movingaway from adjacent sensitive areas (e.g., residential areas, bodies of water, known habitat for threatened or endangeredspecies, non-target crops) is an effective way to minimizethe effect of spray drift.

DRIFT CONTROL ADDITIVIES

Using product compatible drift control additives can reducedrift potential. When a drift control additive is used, readand carefully observe cautionary statements and all otherinformation on the additive's label. If using ah additive thatincreases viscosity, ensure that the nozzles and otherapplication equipment will function properly with a viscousspray solution. Preferred drift control additives have beencertified by the Chemical Producers and DistributorsAssociation (CPDA).
