2002 . . . . Spc. Dremiel Byers became thefourth American to win a WorldChampionship in Greco-RomanWrestling. WCAP athletescaptured an additional 233

medals at national andinternational championships.

2000 . . . . Summer Olympic Team:  56soldiers (73 percent of thoseassigned to WCAP) qualified forOlympic Trials. Four made theU.S. team; nine were alternates.The Army’s boxing coach, Staff 

Sgt. Basheer Abdullah, wasselected as the U.S. boxingteam’s high performancecoordinator. Capt. Jim Gregorywas selected as U.S. ModernPentathlon’s team leader. Spc.Chad Senior finished sixth inmodern pentathlon.

1998 . . . . Winter Olympics – 9 soldiersmade the U.S. Olympic team.

1996 . . . . 60 soldiers qualified forthe Olympic trials, 15 madethe team.
