FULBRIGHT PROGRAMSVisiting Scholar Faculty Development

HUMPHREY Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program


Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program • Non-degree grants to senior researchers,

university lecturers, or experts in different fields

• Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience

• Scholars conduct independent research in the United States


Fulbright Faculty Development Program • Provides junior university professors a chance

to explore curriculum development OR teaching methodology in the United States

• Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience

• No graduate degree needed


Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

• A one-year, full scholarship offered to mid-career professionals for independent study at one of the leading universities in the United States.

• Applicants must have a proven record of leadership, public service commitment, and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program.

• Candidates compete with those from other countries


General Qualifications

Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and permanent residency (all TN residents eligible)

Proficiency in written and spoken English (test required for some)

Eligibility for a U.S. J-1 visa

For the Fulbright Scholar Program, a Ph.D. or equivalent professional Experience

For Fulbright Faculty Development Program, applicants must have at least two years of university teaching experience

For Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, applicants must have a degree and at least five years of substantial professional experience

Invitation letters from host institution: Encouraged but not required

Each program requires a research proposal

• Candidates submit applications online by deadline

• Embassy Committee examines applications• Committee interviews eligible applicants• Committee recommends applicants to Foreign

Scholar Board• Fulbright Faculty and Humphrey applicants take

TOEFL• Board approves finalists


Other program specifics•Dependents: You may bring dependents; please call us for specifics

•Grant length:Scholars: 3 months to 9 months

Faculty Development: academic year

Humphrey: academic year.

•Fields:Scholars: any field

Faculty Development: teaching methodologies and curriculum development

Humphrey: Specific topic areas, including educational administration, planning, and policy


What do the programs provide?

–Round trip airfare from Chisinau to the USA.–Living expenses for the period of the program–Professional allowance–Medical insurance


Fulbright programs are authorized by the U.S. Congress with taxes paid by the

people of the U.S.
