PEDESTRIAN BARCELONA Organised by: Catalunya Camina, www.catalunyacamina.orgThis visit focuses on the pedestrian oriented city model versus the privat motorised vehicle city model. It starts downtown, where several pro-pedestrian upgrading projects were implemented to promote pedestrian use and improve accessibility in the public space (shared spaces, reduction of motor vehicles, pedestrianizations). SANTS-LA BORDETAIndustrial area of Can Batlló, Bloc 11 Organised by: Raons Públiques, www.raonspubliques.orgTransformation and regeneration of an obsolete industrial area.The visit shows a participative model of city-making. Bloc eleven is a warehouse voluntarily self-managed by neighbours from the boroughs La Bordeta and Sants. Recent investigation has brought to light rigorously the complexity of the development of Pla Cerdà (Cerda’s Master Plan for Barcelona 1860). It also made us aware of the great flexibility of the plan and its capacity to adapt to the changes that the city has gone through the last 150 years. COLL and VALLCARCAurban resilienceOrganised by: La Volta coop d’Arquitecteshttps://cvolta.wordpress.comA walk in two hilly neighbourhoods that have been through a long urban transformation process where bottom-up initiatives and small interventions in the public space held by neighbours improve there lives. For example the construction of urban furniture, urban gardens, a cooperative housing project, the walking path, small interventions on streets and squares and the new public building for environmental education in Turull forest. THE RAILWAY TRIANGLEMetro Control Centre – Automatic Line 9 Organised by: TMB, www.tmb.catA bus will pick up the visitors and bring them to the railway triangle and later to the modern metro L9. The visit focuses on showing public transportation as a tool to improve public space quantitatively and qualitatively, air quality and reduction of emissions to reduce greenhouse effect.
