    Module Description The module mainly focused to give an advancedawareness of the built environment, the design issuesin the process of environmental changes and the skillsinvolved in feasibility studies and environmentaldesign.Principles of urban design will introduce students toUrban Design Theories; basic design challenges ofurban/built-up space; Main trends in Urban Design;Urban Design and urban development process; Urban

    Design and the Planning process; approaches to IdealUrban form; Night, fear and spaces; Sustainability andUrban Design.The course focuses on issues related to designingwithin the existing urban fabric: urban renewal. Imageof the city: paths, edges, districts, nodes andlandmarks. Pattern of urban form: streets, squares,monuments. The architecture of the city, Urban Designand Conservation. Exercise on urban design byintervention in an existing urban setting.

    Assignments Will give in the form of project by selecting part of the city. The

    project will give in group not more than 8 students; and the focusof the project should be analysis of problems in the city with the

    context of urban design principles and designing the part of city

    with appropriate solution for analyzed problems.

    Learning Outcomes At the end of this module students will be able to:

    Explain the importance of Urban Design as a means of

    delivering better values and higher standards in the built

    environment.

    Understand main urban design issues

    Apply the right procedures in feasibility studies
