The introduction is intended to lend the readerinto the topic and clarify what the essay willspecifically deal with. It usually consists of oneparagrap~, but this depends on the length of theessay and the amount of background informationthe context requires. The introduction willcontain a key sentence'(or, ifnecessary, more thanone) that represents the thread running throughthe whole essay.This sentence is called the thesisstatement.
The main body deals with the major ideas thatsupport the thesis statement. Each main idea ispresented in a separate paragraph ("one notion,one paragraph") and developed with supportingideas in the form of explanations, definitions, orsimilar, and illustrated with examples whereappropriateor necessary.
