Kalizo Lodge is our choice pick of fishing lodge located approximately 40km’s out side of Katima Mulilo in Namibia’s caprivi strip. With easy access from the International Airport located in Kasane, Botswana this destination is easy to access and only requires one flight and a transfer from O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg

Kalizo Lodge, meaning place of safety, is indeed a tranquil safe haven. Conveniently situated 40 km from Katima Mullilo and a few hours from the famous Victoria Falls, Chobe Game Reserve and other National parks, it is undeniably the heart of any great adventure. The fishing is excellent for thos after Tigerfish and key bream species.

Kalizo Lodge is a getaway for the whole family and offers much that can be enjoyed by all. Some of the activities that keep enticing visitors to return include, world-class river fishing, birding and photography as well as boating and game viewing.

Kalizo offers Luxury tented accommodation in the Caprivi region of Namibia.

At Kalizo Lodge, the aim is to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable catering for every type of visitors. The accommodation

features raw, earthy and grounded décor, and will delight you with its simplicity and African charm.

All luxury tents and houses come fitted with a fully equipped kitchenette and have private bathrooms and breath-taking views of

the river. Some of the chalets still do not have kitchen facilities, but this will change once all the new tents are installed.

Dining & Bar:

Kalizo is wild and passionate about good, healthy food, with the use of their own home-grown organic products they ensure

guests are eating the best quality and most delicious cuisine available.

The kitchen and dining room are open plan and spacious, with gorgeous bespoke furniture, much of it designed and made at the

Lodge.

With daily baked goods such as croissants, breads & rolls you are ensured high quality and fresh foods.

While they love not having TV’s blaring in this pristine natural setting, they do appreciate the need to have Sports available to the

guests and so have installed a 46 inch LCD flat screen with DSTV for all the die-hard sports fans.

There is a lovely bar counter, where you can relax and watch the Zambezi go by whilst sipping on a cold brew.

Bar Hours are: 11.00 – 14.00 and 17.30 – 22.00

Fishing: Superb angling opportunities for the 93 species which inhabit these waters are on offer, while Kalizo Lodge is particularly renowned for excellent

Tiger and Bream fishing, Tiger fish of between 5-7kgs are not uncommon, whilst the current Lodge record for this species is 8.2kgs on fly and 10kgs

conventional fishing. Well-equipped boats as well as rods and fishing tackle are available for hire and our experienced guides accompany guests to the best

fishing locations on the river. Kalizo Lodge actively supports a catch and release policy. Kalizo will greatly assist you in your quest to catch the mighty tiger,

bream, barbel, and many other species. All tackle is available for hire at the lodge.

Bird-watching at Kalizo is an all year round pleasure with excellent opportunities to view over 430 species of different birds which inhabit the flood plains

and surrounding areas. A large breeding colony of Carmine bee-eaters can be viewed between Aug and Nov, African Skimmers are present between Apr and

Dec. Birding can be enjoyed by boat from the Zambezi or by foot around the lodge and local surrounding area’s.

Photography: There are few places on Earth that can offer a photographer, novice or professional more varied and exquisite subjects that you find at

Kalizo and its surrounds. The Zambezi biosphere produces some remarkable and awesome vistas, sunrises and sunsets as well as spectacular and unique

birds and other wildlife, offering a wide scope of material and opportunity for the photographer

Game viewing: The Chobe National Park is the third largest National Park in Botswana and covers 11,700 square kilometres. It has one of the greatest

concentrations of game found on the African continent and its abundance of wildlife offers a safari experience of a lifetime. Full-day tours and half-day into the

Chobe National Park can be arranged.

Visas: South Africans and most foreign National’s visiting Namibia and Botswana do not require a visa. Some foreign nationals require a visa, which is obtainable on arrival at the airport. A valid passport is required. Travel & Medical Insurance:It is recommended that travel insurance be taken out prior to departure. This should cover any medical emergency such as evacuation or hospitalisation, as well as cancellation and lost baggage. We do not cover any medical expenses in the event of injuries or complications that may occur as a result of the trip.

First Aid: Camp will only contain a general first aid kit for minor injuries, should any more serious injuries occur there is the nearby Mongu hospital which you will be taken to.
