Updated as of July 16, 2013 User Productivity Kit (UPK) Slide 2 The Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK) is a quick development tool to create and deliver computer-based simulation training. The training is self-paced and provides multiple playback modes to accommodate multiple learning styles. What is UPK? Slide 3 The UPK training can be accessed through the Training page on the NFC website. NFC Training Web Page By clicking on any of the individual courses, you will be taken to the UPK login screen. Once you have logged in, you will be directed to the course selected. Accessing the UPK Training Slide 4 If this is the first time that you are accessing the UPK training, you will need to create a new user account. 1.Click the Create new user link 2.Type in your NFC email address in the Email Address field 3.Create a new password and type it in the Password field 4.Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password field 5.To automatically be logged in when accessing the training, select the Save email address and password. If you select this option, you will not see this page again option 6.Click the Create User and Login button Creating a New User Account Slide 5 Logging In To access the training, you must login to the NFC UPK content management site. 1.Enter your NFC email address in the Email Address field 2.Enter the password 3.Click the Login button Slide 6 The Main Course Menu displays. The Main Course menu consists of two windows, the Outline Pane and the Concept Pane. Course Navigation Slide 7 The Outline Pane provides the structured outline of the course content and the capability to do a keyword search for content. Content is broken down into a hierarchy of Modules, Sections and Topics. Expand button - allows you to expand and view the Modules, Sections and Topics underneath the selected heading. Collapse button allows you to collapse the Modules, Sections and Topics underneath the selected heading. Outline Pane Slide 8 The Concept Pane displays overview information on a Module, Section or Topic. Once you click on an object in the Outline Pane, the related conceptual information will display in the Content Pane. The Preferences Menu allows the user to change certain display preferences such as colors used to outline fields. The Help Menu provides instruction on navigating through the Content. This is the default Oracle content and is not specific to the NFC courses or setup. Concept Pane Slide 9 The keyword search in the Outline Pane enables you to search and filter content based on the keyword text entered. 1.Enter the keywords into the Search textbox field 2.Click the Search button 3.Click the View filtered outline or the View list to toggle between the search display options 4.To modify a search, edit the text in the Search textbox field and click the Search button again 5.To clear a search and return to the full course outline, click the Clear button Performing a Key Word Search Slide 10 Topics have multiple playback modes that can be used to view the content. After selecting a Topic in the Outline Pane, buttons for the applicable Payback modes will display across the top of the Main Course Menu. Click a playback mode to launch the content. Topic Playback Modes Slide 11 See ItThis mode enables you to view the content as an animated demonstration. The actions are performed in a time sequence. Use the Pause/Resume link to stop and continue at your pace. Try ItThis mode enables you to perform each action with step by step guidance. Know ItThis mode tests your ability to perform the actions without any guidance. Although available, this option is not currently used by NFC. Do ItThis mode enables to you view the content in a small window while working in the live application. Print ItThis mode opens up the Job Aid document in a new window enabling you to print the selected document. Topic Playback Modes (cont) Slide 12 Exit a Course 1.Close the Internet Explorer Window Exit a Topic Once you complete a Topic, you will automatically be returned to the Course Main Menu. You may also exit in the middle of Topic.
