Table A2: Course Delivery Methods (OTL or Physical) according to Class Type.
Class Type Course Delivery Method
Lecture OTL
Tutorial Physical / OTL
Practical Physical / OTL
i. All Lecture Classes shall be conducted via OTL mode.
ii. Tutorials / Practical Classes shall be conducted for course delivery via physical mode for
students who choose to return to campus and have registered for the physical groups assigned by
the respective Faculty / Institute / Centre; and via OTL mode for students who choose to study
remotely and have registered for the OTL groups assigned by the respective Faculty / Institute /
Centre. However, please take note in the event that there is change in the COVID situation and
subject to the instructions by the relevant authorities, the physical classes registered may be
converted to OTL mode in due course.
iii. Remote Examinations including Continuous Assessments (i.e. tests and assignments) and
Final Assessments (i.e. time-restricted open-ended assessments and online examinations) shall
be implemented for October 2021 Trimester. For courses in Table A3, physical Final
Examination shall be arranged subject to the later confirmation if situation allowed so.
2
iv. For details of the courses and timetables for classes including the timetable to return to campus
for physical classes registered, please refer to your respective Faculty / Institute / Centre.
v. All Foundation, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate students (including EEP) who have special
needs can arrange by appointment for access to use essential campus facilities. Physical
distancing and safety SOPs must be strictly followed.
vi. All students returning to campus must have completed the full vaccination process required. For
students who have not completed the full vaccination process, please refer to your respective
Faculty / Institute / Centre for further advice. All students will be required to update their relevant
vaccination status in UTAR Student Portal (via the hyperlink on the pop-up reminder, or
clicking at the Vaccination Status app in the Highlight panel), starting from 28 September 2021
to 10 October 2021.
3. Table A3 shows the list of courses with compulsory physical practical classes required by the
professional body or faculty where the students are required to return to campus. However, if you are
NOT able to return to campus to carry out such essential physical hands-on classes / laboratory /
practical training / clinical work / studio due to unavoidable reasons, you must apply to your respective
Faculty Dean with the appropriate reason(s) for approval to fulfil this requirement at a later time. Please
contact your respective Dean for more information if you need further clarification regarding this
requirement. However, in the event that there is change in the COVID situation and subject to the
instructions by the relevant authorities, these compulsory physical classes assigned may be postponed
to a later date.
4. Table A4 shows the list of courses that are 100% fully conducted via OTL. If ALL your
registered courses for October 2021 Trimesters are conducted via OTL mode only, then you need not
opt to “Return to campus” unless you wish to use the campus facilities.
5. If you choose to “Return to campus”, you can access a number of dedicated Learning Spaces,
which are equipped with WiFi access and made available in both Sungai Long Campus and Kampar
Campus during weekdays throughout the teaching weeks (not available on Saturday / Sunday / public
holidays). At these Learning Spaces, you can use your own device to attend OTL lecture / tutorial /
practical classes at your convenience, to conduct self-study or use them as waiting place in between
classes that are conducted via physical mode and OTL mode. Table A5 shows a list of Learning Spaces
available for use on campus in October 2021 Trimester.
6. Faculty / Foundation / Centres may conduct remedial classes for certain courses with practical /
laboratory sessions and such arrangements shall be announced by the relevant Faculty / Centre in due
course.
7. Students who plan to register / have registered for industrial training / clinical training in
October 2021 Trimester and who shall be attached to the company / institution outside the University,
need NOT return to campus. Please follow the instructions of your faculty for industrial training /
clinical training arrangements.
8. For FMHS students, due to the need of clinical placement and training, please refer to the faculty
for further information and arrangements.
9. For International students, please contact the Department of International Student Services
(DISS) if you need further information or have further queries.
10. For Undergraduate students with final year projects and Postgraduate students by research
mode who are doing the critical part of your project, the respective Deans, in consultation with the
Supervisor(s) / Principal Investigator(s), shall arrange rotational schedules for you to continue your
project / R&D activities on campus for access to essential laboratory facilities / special equipment, by
following the latest MOHE instructions, physical distancing and safety SOPs strictly.
3
11. After course pre-registration, if you wish to change your decision on the academic study mode /
course delivery method selected due to unforeseen reasons, please contact your Faculty / Institute /
Centre General Office, and apply to your Dean / Director for approval, before the commencement of
October 2021 Trimester. If necessary, you may also change the course lecture / tutorial / practical groups
throughout the Add and Drop Period of October 2021 Trimester. So far, based on the course pre-
registration results, about 21% of students chose to return to campus, whereas about 79% of students
chose not to return to campus during October 2021 Trimester.
12. For new students of October 2021 intake, you are required to complete the confirmation of
your preferred Academic Study Mode (Come to Campus; or Not to Come to Campus) and Course
Delivery Method (Physical mode / Online Teaching and Learning mode) via
https://unitreg.utar.edu.my/StudyConfirmOct. After you have confirmed your Academic Study Mode
and Course Delivery Method, your Faculty / Institute / Centre will pre-assign the course lecture,
tutorial / practical groups of all your registered courses. Please check your timetable in the UTAR
portal system for the details of assigned lecture / tutorial / practical groups and contact your Faculty /
Institute / Centre general office if you need further clarification.
13. Please note that the conduct of all essential physical hands-on classes and activities in the
University campuses or the use of campus infrastructures and facilities, where relevant, will also follow
all the health and safety SOPs as per MOHE and the relevant authorities, as well as the physical
distancing SOPs issued by the University.
B. Vaccination and SOPs for Students Returning to Campus for October 2021 Trimester
1. Starting from 18 October 2021 onwards, students who plan to physically access the campus will
be allowed to enter campus with the permission only given to students who have been fully
vaccinated. For students who have not completed the full vaccination process, please refer to your
respective Faculty / Institute / Centre for further advice and arrangement.
2. The definition of fully vaccinated:
a. Individuals who have taken the Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Sinovac vaccines, which require two
doses, must have passed 14 days from the date of their second vaccination.
b. Individuals who have taken the Johnson & Johnson or CanSino vaccines, which require one
dose, must have passed 28 days from the date of their vaccination.
Students who have not received any vaccination appointment in MySejahtera are urged to walk-in to
their nearest PPV centre for vaccination soonest as per announcement by the government. New students
must bring along with their Admission Offer Letter and MyKad; whereas existing students must bring
along with their Student ID card and MyKad. A list of PPV centres can be searched at
https://www.vaksincovid.gov.my/ppv/
3. ALL students will be required to update their relevant vaccination status in Student Portal (via
the hyperlink on the pop-up reminder, or clicking at the Vaccination Status app in the Highlight panel),
starting from 28 September 2021 to 10 October 2021.
4. Students are strongly advised to refer to the full version of the SOPs for student returning
and campus access guidelines for students (October 2021 Trimester) at
https://tinyurl.com/m5hyv6n6 for further details.
Any changes / updates to the above arrangements will be announced from time to time, in accordance
to the latest directives from MOHE, professional bodies and relevant authorities.
Please stay safe and healthy. Thank You.
