Happy July 4th! We’re at the half way point of the summer.Andwhata irsthalfit’sbeen!TheClubhasseenatonofactivi-ty in all areas. Unfortunately,whatwe’ve also seenare someissues.Andweneedtoaddresssomeofthosenow.

We,theBoard,understandthereareissuescurrentlybeingfeltbythemembership;whether itbeservice issues intheDiningRoomor a policy call on the course,wemust remember thatthisisourClub.Whichmeansitisourjobtohelpimprovethesituation,notworsen it. Handling issuesbytalkingnegativelytoothermembers,orevenworsetoourownstaffonthefrontlines isunacceptable. Howmany timesdidyouheargrowingupornowtellingyourownkids,“treatothersthewayyouwanttobetreated”.Well,wearesayingitagain.Wemusttreatourstaffkindlyandwithrespect.Andifthereisanissuethatneedstobeaddressedoracomplaintmade,thentakeittothemanag-erincharge,orTomMorgan(DirectorofOperations)inapro-fessionalway.

WeareallheretoenjoyourselvesandthisClub.Wearetakingthe stepsnecessary tomake sure thatwill happen. Thus, thefollowing new policies have recently been adopted by theBoardofManagersshouldanissueoccuratourClub.

IfaMemberorMember’sguesthaveviolatedclubrulesand/orBylaws,thefollowingstepsaretobetaken:

1. AssoonaspossibletheDirectorofOperations,fortheBoardofManagers,willsendthememberaletteroutliningtheinfractionsand/orviolationsandthesubsequentstepswhichthatwillbetakenshouldtheinfractioncontinue.TheMemberorMember’sguestwillalsobegivenanop-portunity(shouldtheychoose)toappearinfrontoftheBoardandrespondtotheallegationofrulesviolations.

2. Shouldthebehaviorcontinue,theMemberwillreceivealetterfromtheBoardofManagerssignedbythePresidentoftheBoardinformingtheMemberthatshouldanotheroccurrencehappen,theywillbesuspendedforaperiodoftimetobedeterminedbytheBoardofManagers.

3. AnysubsequentviolationwillrequiretheBoardtosuspendtheMemberforadesignatedperiodoftimedeterminedbytheBoardofManagers.

4. Ifthebehaviorandviolationoccursagain,theMembermaybefurthersuspended,uptoandincludingexpulsion.

5. Atanytime,theBoardofManagersreservestherighttoinde initelysuspendanyMemberbasedontheseriousnessoftheinfractionorviolation.ThisdeterminationistobemadeinthesolediscretionoftheBoardofManagers.

InappropriateBehaviorinClubhousebyMembersandGuests

IfaMemberorguestofaMemberisactinginappropriately,generallyde inedasloud,vulgar,oranyconductwhichdisturbsothermembersandguests,asdeterminedbythesupervisororMODthefollowingstepswillbetaken:

1. ThestaffwillnotifythesupervisororMODofthesituationassoonaspossible.

2. Ifwarranted,thememberorguestwillbeaskedbythesupervisororMODtochangebehavior(i.e.theywillbeaskedto"keepitdown"iftheyarebeingexceptionallyloudandupsettingothermembersandguests).

3. Ifthebehaviorpersists,thememberand/orguestwillbeaskedbythesupervisororMODtoleavetheclubhouse.

4. Ifthememberorguestrefusestoleave,securitywillbecalledbythesupervisororMOD.

5. ThesupervisororMODwillinformtheDirectorofOpera-tionsoftheincidentnolaterthanthefollowingworkday.

6. TheBoardofManagersmaytakeappropriatedisciplinaryactionagainsttheMemberand/orexcludetheirguest(s)fromfutureuseoftheClubhouse.

Onceagain I amsadden toannounce thatanothermanager forthe Food and Beverage department has resigned. Brock BurrhasleftDakotaDunesduetopersonalreasons.

The process has already begun for his replacement. In themeantime,existingmanagementandstaffwilltakeonthedutiesoftheFoodandBeveragemanageruntilareplacementishired.

In addition to the managerial position, we are constantlylooking and hiring wait staff and bartenders due to turnover.Historically,wehavehadsomewhatofarevolvingdoorwiththeparttime/seasonalstaffasthesepositionsarenormally illedbycollege students needing part-time jobs until they go into the“real”world. Becauseoftheturnover,thereisongoingtrainingthatisrequiredwhichinturnteststhepatienceofthemember-ship. Many timeswhen people get impatient they tend to getupsetandsomecangetverballyabusivetothestaff.

Pleasekeepinmindthatthestaffistryingtodotheirjobsaswellas providing an income for themselves. When an individual iscontentwith their current surroundings, theyarenot soapt tobeexploringotheropportunities;buttheoppositeholdstrueaswell. It isnosecret that the labormarket is extremely tight inthis area andmanagement struggles inding employees for thevariouspositions required toprovide the serviceall of youde-serve.Itispossibletohiresomeonefrommanystatesawayforamanagementposition,but impossible todo this forapart-timeorseasonalposition;whichmustbe illedbylocals.

This organizations relies on two basic components; membersandemployees.Withoutboth,theorganizationfailstoexist.Welookforwardtocontinueworkingtogether,betteringtheClub!

Leagues, events and activity participationfromthemembers isvital toclubsuccessandyourdedicationand commitment tobeing active and supportivemembershasbeenfeltandmakingadifference!Thankyou!!

Format: Junior’s Tee off on each hole to start play. Par-

ent & Junior alternate shots until the ball is holed out. The junior’s shot does not count until they have made contact with the ball (no wiffs).

Flights: Juniors and their Parent’s will compete in 5

flights, which will be broken down by the junior golfer’s age and the parent’s handicap.

Food & Awards: Following play, there will be a buffet and awards

ceremony.

Doug Hausman GolfCourseSuperintendentThe last full week in June, the course experienced over onethousand rounds. From our perspective that’s a lot of divotsandballmarks. We’reoften asked “what’s theplace look likeafter a hundred and forty-four players trample around?” Theanswerisplayersusuallydoaprettygoodjobwith illingdivotsand repairingballmarks. Theworst damage is afterTuesdaynightleagueduetoballmarks.Theladiesdoamuchbetterjobwithregardtotakingcareofthepropertyyouhaveownershipin.Let’s“payitahead”and illdivots,repairyourballmarkandone others, keep the carts on the pavement, and rake thebunkersmoothasyouenjoyyourselves.Let’sleavetheplayingsurfaces better when you leave for your fellow membersfollowingbehind.We have developed a “cotton harvester” for when the cottonpilesuponalloftheplayingsurfaces. Asetofheadshasbeenrevamped to harvest cotton off of the greens prior to cuttingwiththewalkinggreensmowers.Baseduponclippingyieldandputtingspeeds,itappearsithashelped.Wewillkeepadjustingandcommunicatingconditions.As the soil temperatures have climbed so has thematurationprocessonseventeenandeighteen.Itwon’tbelongandthosetwostrong inishingholeswillblendinasthoughthey’vebeenthere for years. All are coming along as is typical withgrow-ins.Bothgreensitesareprogressingastheyshouldbaseduponconstructionacumenandplantingdates.Wewillcontinueto hand top-dress and groomuntil those areas are caught up.Wewillbetopdressingtheeighteenthfairwayasecondtimetocontinue to “grow soil” along with other amendments. Thesandwe’releftwithwillbeusedtocontinuetoimproveexistingbunkers. We look forward to seeing you all out on the golfcoursefortheheartofthegolfseason.

Starting July 7th,Wendy Hackney will beleading a water aerobics class on Tuesday mornings at9:00am—a great water workout great for all ages. ThemonthofJuneclosedonahighnote!Intheinal week, your Club hosted the SiouxlandChamber, Governor’s Golf Classic and theDakotas Tour in addition to weekly leagues,member play and the 4th Annual CouplesChampionship. Looking at it from Food andBeverage side, the Club hosted the Governorand his 185 guests for dinner, breakfast andlunch while also handling leagues, a birthdayparty,tentweddingandmemberdining.Itwasa seven day stretch illedwithmany victoriesfor yourClub. Muchpraisehasbeen receivedasguestafterguestwereimpressedwiththeirpersonalized, special event. A huge round ofapplause to thestaff for their long,hardhoursand to the membership for accommodatingothersandsharingtheirwonderfulClub!
