CHAPEL MISSION PROJECT (September-October) Kids Stepping out to Serve Others… This year our school celebrates its 150th year! Our forefathers at Immanuel were led by God to begin a school ministry that has been blessed to grow and grow. Our school theme this year is Walk Worthy from Colossians 1:10…”The Lord invites us to live a life worthy of Him.” In keeping with this theme, our mission projects this year will focus on kids “stepping” out to serve others in need as we Walk Worthy in our Lord. Our fall mission project (September-October) will focus on collecting school supplies for students attending Orneau Lutheran School in Orneau, Haiti, with whom Immanuel has a partnership. We ask that you and your children pray for these students along with Pastor Gabriel and the teachers as they continue to Walk Worthy. Our school has been richly blessed for 150 years. We are striving to send 150 of each school supply item below to our friends in Haiti. Please consider sending in 1 or more of the items listed next your child’s grade level. Come join us for chapel on September 14th to learn more about the people of Haiti and the church and school we help support. School supplies: Crayons (24 count) – Kindergarten Glue bottles (4 oz) – 1st grade Pencil sharpeners – 2nd grade Erasers – 3rd grade Scissors (blunt) – 4th grade Composition Notebooks – 5th grade Rulers (metric rulers) -6th grade Pencils (package) – 7th grade Paper (loose-leaf wide lined package) – 8th grade *The school supply items are due by September 30th. The students may bring the supplies in beginning the first day of school and place them in the “Blessing Suitcase” during our opening chapel service or any day during the rest of August and the entire month of September. Monetary offerings will be used for extra supplies and shipping costs. We will be able to say ‘Jezi renmen ou’ (Jesus Loves You) through our gifts.

BACK2SCHOOL FEST – Tuesday, August 23rd 4:00 – 8:00 pm (Pre-8) Please join us as we help our community by giving school supplies and much more. Besides the free school supplies, there will be free food, inflatable games, Ford test drives, and much more for everyone.

Volunteer to Help – Click here – Back2School Fest Volunteer Sign Up Thank you so much for serving with your time and talents the community of Macomb and Immanuel. The service you share through your volunteerism is an opportunity to be Jesus

with skin on to someone who has need (physical, spiritual, and/or emotional). So, on behalf of all the families who will experience faith and life together through you...THANK YOU!! "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels." - Hebrews 13:2

WELCOME NEW STAFF! Taylor Kaniuk – 1st Grade Teacher Hello Immanuel Family! My name is Taylor Kaniuk and I am excited to teach first grade at Immanuel this year! I am a life-long member of Immanuel, baptized by Pastor Mike and graduate of the day school. Immanuel has been an integral part of my faith and life walk; many of the teachers here inspiring me to become a teacher myself. I attended Lutheran High School North and graduated from Concordia, Ann Arbor in 2014. I

received my bachelor's degree in Language Arts for Elementary Education, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I'm starting my second year of teaching. I was blessed to teach 1-2 grade at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Richmond last year and am grateful for the experience they gave me as I transition here to Immanuel. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, country music and concerts, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to teaching God's children this school year.

Marianne Macfarlane – Kindergarten Assistant Mrs. Macfarlane will be assisting Mrs. Greve in her kindergarten classroom, which allows Mrs. Kaniuk to assist Mrs. Williams in her classroom. We’re excited to have two great kindergarten assistants working alongside Mrs. Greve and Mrs. Williams.

Pastor Nikolai – Assistant Pastor Pastor Nikolai Gibbons and his wife, Toni, are beginning their ministry here at Immanuel. Pastor Nikolai will be overseeing our youth ministry as part of his pastoral duties.

Carlee Kling – Assistant to Student Ministries Carlee will be a part of our Family Ministry focusing on 7th – 12th grade ministry.
