FROM YOUR EVANGELISM COMMITTEE

CWF Outreach Program

North Winds Resident Project

For the past four years, the morning CWF group at New Hope Christian Church has positively impacted a group of individuals in a very Christian “others first” way. Recognizing that residents of the North Winds Living Center were in need of items which we daily take for granted, the CWF of New Hope stepped forward and embraced North Winds as one of their many outreach projects.

Regularly providing needed clothing and daily self-care toiletries, along with books, magazines and puzzles, the residents of North Winds feel Christian hands upon them.

With many of the residents having little or no money available, their personal esteem is lifted through these Christian acts of kindness. Given the continu-ing, unselfish efforts of CWF the human spirit of all the North Winds Living Center residents is raised.

So…the next time you hear “What would Jesus Do?”…let it remind you of our CWF’s support and mission the the North Winds Resident Project. Jesus is surely pleased.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of New Hope who make up our Ministry Team. These individuals take time out of their busy schedules every other month to minister to the shut-ins and the sick New Hope family members and lift their spirits by reading scripture with them, sharing communion and engaging them in conversation. What a joy to know that they are thought of and someone cares about them.

This past month, I had the opportunity to visit and share with individuals. Since Ministry Team member participation is voluntary, sometimes there aren't enough volunteers to see everyone listed. This month, I took up the slack. I was able to share with Nadine Anderson in her retirement home. What a nice visit we had. I shared with Nancy Luman in her hospital room. She was very pleased to see me. I shared with Bill Porter who lives in Ed-mond. Bill was happy to see me as well but was concerned that he, living in Edmond, was too far for someone to drive to make these visits. I assured him that, no distance is too far to share the love of Christ and bring a smile to someone. He was quick to point out that he did enjoy the visits especially the gifts made by the children. He pointed to the mini bird house painted by the children that he has resting on his television console. Lastly, I sent a care package to Tawanna Romine who lives in Arlington, Texas. This week, I re-ceived a letter from Tawanna expressing her gratitude for always remember-ing her and a word of "thanks" for her special gift.

Sometimes, we do not realize how much the “ little things” that we do matter to someone else. I stand as a witness that it does; ten fold. Many thanks to those who serve as a part of the New Hope Ministry Team. Your kindness and your efforts make a world of difference to those we serve. Keep up the good work!

Blessings, Anthony Henderson

P.S. If you would like to be part of this wonderful ministry, please feel free to contact me through the church office for more details.

Vacation Bible School Success

Vacation Bible School at New Hope Christian Church has come and has now gone. The crafting, learning and snack areas have disappeared from Fellowship Hall. What's left

is a mountain of memories. Remembering the fun, the games, the food, the music, the hands-on farm activities like making strawberry jam, home made ice cream, choco-late chip cookies from scratch, milking a cow, shucking corn and digging in the dirt to plant a garden. Not to mention the time we spent with Pastor Josh having fun learning about the fruits of the spirit through the parables that Jesus told.

During VBS, we learned a lot, saw much and tasted even more. We made new friends and we even witnessed the

blossoming of some of the younger kids as they slowly let go of their adult family members and began to become more independent and have fun with the other kids. Who says God still doesn't give miracles?

The summer heat is here. All of the kids are raring to tackle summer. The VBS adult helpers are still tired from the week of festivities and are wanting to beat the heat by taking a nap. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's VBS the special event that it was. We had the chance to impress on some very young minds that God loves us...each and every one of us and to "Do your best and let God do the rest!" What a great week!
