DIRECTOR'S NOTEDear Pen Pal,

I can’t believe that, over the course of the past seven months, we’ve been able to put this whole thing together. An entire theatre company, our first production—it’s insane how much we’ve gotten done. The staff and the volunteers here at Out-skirts have to be the hardest working people I’ve ever known.

Outskirts Theatre Co.’s mission is to create experimental and thought-provoking theatre that strives to both educate and entertain the community as well as serve as a call to action against social and moral injustices. Bert V. Royal’s compelling story is the perfect piece for us to begin planting our roots and spreading our message into the community.

I couldn’t be more proud of this project and each and every person involved. I am eternally grateful to everyone who has been a part of this production, to the amazing sponsors and donors who have helped us go above and beyond our goals, and to you for coming out and supporting us. I can’t wait to see what happens next, and I sincerely hope you stay around for the ride.

Yours Truly,Your Pen Pal,

Ryan AlbrechtsonManaging Artistic Director

Outskirts Theatre Co.

FEATUREDARTIST

C. Glatziator Like Van’s Sister, I am also a pyromaniac.

I am adopting the pseudonym “C. Glatziatior” as my artist name. I figure if I’m going to pursue a career as pretentious as that of an artist, I might as well have a pretentious artist name. Why C. Glatziatior? Well, I have three reasons.

1. Say it loud. Say it. SAY IT. see-glat-see-ate-or. You sounded ridiculous, didn’t you?

2. C. Glatziator is a play on my real name. Want to find out what that is? Go to my blog. It’s www.learnwithcolleen.com. Don’t roll your eyes. Everybody shamelessly self-promotes. Why should I not?

3. Artists should be like the gladiators of Ancient Rome- tirelessly fighting to the death in order to entertain the masses. The creation of art is not to be taken lightly. It is the work of down-n-dirty fighters, those looking to battle their inner most demons and combat soci-etal pressure to find a “real” job.

When I plop onto my bedroom floor and begin a painting, I rarely have a goal in mind. I just want to unleash steam and produce work that makes viewers go, “I want to snort that sh#t.”

Essentially, I want to create visual crack.

Throughout this play you are attending, CB will repeatedly ask nearly every individual he encounters what they think happens when death sets in and the story is over. The art on display is my own personal answer: The world is abounding with destruction and deprivation, but it is the job of artistic gladiators the world over to make sure a little bit of the lost remains alive.

This is what I have lost. This is what is still here.

Go on. Figuratively snort it.

Check out C. Glatziator’s art in the lobby!
