Fabdec Headquarters UK Fabdec Germany European Distribution Centre, UK

Fabdec was founded in 1960 in Ellesmere, Shropshire and the business retains its operations in the town today. Through organic growth and well planned acquisitions, Fabdec has become one of the leading manufacturers within its chosen markets. Utilising its key skills in stainless steel fabrication and heat transfer technology, we have established ourselves as a supplier of choice; serving markets both within the UK and around the world.

    Company Background

Research & DevelopmentResearch and development are at the core of Fabdecs ethos and we continually invest in product development. This strategy has played a pivotal role in our continued search for innovation and ever higher industry standards.

Customer serviceOur customer service team is dedicated to building a real partnership with customers in a friendly, professional and flexible manner. We believe that through continual improvement and training we set new industry standards.

Manufacturing We strive to exceed customer expectations in product design, manufacture and performance. To achieve this goal we continue to invest in both our resources and staff. State of the art machinery and a well trained, skilled workforce ensure every Fabdec product is a sound investment.

Fabdec has been involved in the water-heating sector since the early 1980s when its specialist product engineers pioneered the unvented system in the UK. Having successfully licensed this innovation for the domestic sector we then focussed our activities on commercial and agricultural water heating systems.

In 2005 we re-entered the domestic market with another revolutionary product - EXCELSIOR. Today our evolution in this sector continues with product enhancements, commercial cylinders and models suitable for use with alternative energy sources.

    Company history

  • 3

The EXCELSIOR is a superior example of British design, innovation, and manufacture constructed from quality components. Retaining the original design ethic, the latest incarnation now focuses on offering market leading efficiency and performance.

    EXCELSIOR

    Pioneers in unvented water heating

The remodelled exterior now has many of the external fittings recessed into the body to reduce the opportunity for heat loss, thereby increasing vessel temperature retention efficiency. With the highest levels of insulation available on the market, EXCELSIOR, gets your water hot and keeps it that way until you are ready to use it. This makes sure that you are not having to spend precious money on energy to re-heat your cylinder when you are not using the water.

The performance of the EXCELSIOR exceeds CHESS (Central Heating System Specification) BEST PRACTICE guidelines for this type of water heater. These guidelines were produced by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) who promote energy efficiency in buildings and define both BEST practice and GOOD practice in product quality and performance.

The use of DUPLEX stainless steel for the inner vessel offers a lightweight, high strength, corrosion resistant, and low maintenance vessel at an affordable price. Our cylinders are not just good for your pocket; they are good for the environment too. Being made from stainless steel, the vessels are completely recycle-able.

Our insulation has an Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of Zero and is therefore free of harmful CFCs and HCFCs, Global Warming Potential (GWP)=1. Plus the EXCELSIOR is available in a range of configurations to suit alternative energy sources.

With more and more emphasis being placed on sustainability in the energy market and alternative sources of energy gaining in popularity, the EXCELSIOR range also includes the RENEWABLES vessel.

These models incorporate a twin coil arrangement in order to accommodate a primary and secondary heat supply.

The additional coil can be used to exploit energy available from solar panels or ground- / air-source heat pumps. This enables the consumer to take advantage of environmentally friendly and cost-effective heating. As a result of our manufacturing flexibility, we can also offer the EXCELSIOR in triple coil configuration or with high performance coils for GSHP or ASHP applications. Other configurations can be accommodated to special order.

As both hot and cold water comes directly from the mains, the EXCELSIOR can be sited in any location on any floor and theres the added reassurance that when in use the unit will not become hot to touch. The EXCELSIOR lightweight design, flexible positioning, low maintenance and simpler plumbing requirements, make it advantageous for both installers and specifiers. Where space is restricted the EXCELSIOR offers further versatility in its Slimline, Super-slimline and Horizontal designs.

As a result of its special design we can offer EXCELSIOR in both external and internal expansion configurations. The latter enables the installer to eliminate the need to fit time-consuming expansion tanks and enables the consumer to save the extra space that they take up.

For larger amounts of water storage or to achieve higher flow rates, two or more EXCELSIOR vessels can be fitted in parallel. A separate cold feed should be taken to each cylinder with the outlets joined together. Alternatively select from our Commercial cylinder range.

    ExcelsiorFor your home and business

BBA approved, the EXCELSIOR water heaters do not require a header tank so can be sited anywhere on the property, subject to suitable plumbing and water pressure. A minimum requirement of 1.5 bar pressure and 15 litres per minute flow is suggested for satisfactory operation although most homes in the UK now have pressure of more than 2 bar.

EXCELSIOR is available in both external and internal expansion configurations.
