ROCKPORT ELEMENTARY

The South Spencer County School Corporation will be c e l e b r a t i n g i t s g o l d e n anniversary as “50 Years of Excellence” throughout the 2015-16 school year. The 50-Year Football Homecoming will take place Friday September 18th at L. Fred Ayer Field on the campus of South Spencer High School in Reo. Kick-off i s a t 6 : 3 0 C S T w i t h Homecoming Coronation taking place during half-time. ALL South Spencer graduates and the community are encouraged to attend the celebration.

School is in full swing and we are about

to finish our first round of NWEA

testing. This is a formative assessment

that helps track student growth

throughout their years at Rockport

Elementary. It allows staff and student

to set goals, monitor progress, and make

data based decisions. You can help us

out by setting goals with your student

conversations with them. Shorter Days:

How does a scientist say it’s the first

day of fall? She says it’s the autumnal

equinox. After the equinox, the days (or

daylight hours) get shorter than the

nights. This year the equinox is

September 23 (Picture Day). Have your

youngster record what time the run rises

and sets each day for a week. How do the

minutes of daylight change? As always,
