Great engineers transform societies and nations, whether in construction,

aerospace, energy, telecommunications, robotics, mining or manufacturing.

These are just a few of the disciplines where engineers make a difference every

day. Engineering’s influence is boundless; it is definitely not a trivial pursuit.

Tonight we are presenting UNSW Engineering Scholarships to students from a

range of backgrounds who have shown great initiative and promise for the future.

The recipients use these scholarships to help shape their careers and make the

world a better place.

UNSW Engineering has set itself the goal of being one of the world’s top 25

engineering faculties by 2025. This will only be possible if we take risks, reward

innovation, encourage our students to study and participate in world-class

research and forge strong relationships with industry.

We are indebted to our industry partners and private donors who have made

these scholarships possible. You have given tonight’s scholarship winners the

opportunity to make the most of studying in Australia’s leading engineering faculty.

We thank you for your support.
