How to be a HERO By investing in the collective work of Heart of Kentucky United Way’s more than thirty community partners focused on EDUCATION, INCOME, and HEALTH, you are changing lives, and our community as a whole, in real, tangible ways. Here are just a few ways you can be a hero. Unites an abused and neglected child in the court system with a trained advocate who represents their best interest while serving as a steady presence during a tumultuous time. Supports one child in an after-school program where each student eats a healthy snack, develops a one-on-one relationship with a mentor and receives academic support and enrichment in order to be on grade level by third grade.

Gives a young child the opportunity, with their family, to have the critical experiences needed in order to reach early literacy milestones.
