Agenda: 8 am Registration • 8:30 am Program begins • Noon – Lunch • 1:00 Program resumes • 4:30 pm Adjourn
“The Oral Pathology Playhouse: Name that disease and other Oral Pathology Party games”This course is different from other Concord seminars in that it is a self-assessment test that you grade yourself. Everyone gets 100%! At the
completion of this course you will be an expert on the soft tissue and radiographic entities that every dentist and hygienist should know. Some
interesting cases will “pop up.”
Be ready for a real oral pathology adventure. We go over the entities together in an interactive format. It gives you a chance to see what you really
know and what you have forgotten since school. This is the test that I give the junior dental students that they have to pass at 100% proficiency
to go on to the senior year. Are you ready and able to take the challenge? Let’s have some fun and learn material that every dentist and hygienist
must know to be able to protect the health and welfare of your patients.
Objectives1. Become proficient in the entities that every dentist and hygienist should be able to recognize and treat. 2. Recognize good from bad and know when a biopsy is necessary.3. Learn to recognize and treat the common oral diseases.4. Learn the medications that successfully treat the common oral diseases.5. Recognize the premalignant lesions that are associated with oral cancer.6. Recognize the importance of vaccines in the prevention of oropharyngeal cancer.7. Recognize and diagnose pigmented oral lesions and melanoma.8. Learn the common entities found on radiographs and when a biopsy is necessary.9. Learn the importance of decompression in the treatment of large lesions found on radiographs.10. During the case portion of the seminars, recognize the important syndromes with oral manifestations.11. Recognize dermatologic diseases that have oral manifestations.12. Test yourself to see where you fit in the oral pathology “food chain.” Think of it as your oral pathology FICA score.
Are you ready for the challenge?
In part two and three of this three-part series you will be given cases in which you are to develop a differential diagnosis and treatment plan. This will reinforce what you have learned and further reinforce your confidence in diagnosis and treatment. I will give you the cases prior to be course to give you an opportunity to prepare. This is not necessary for the course since they will all be covered in the program. The goal is to have you experience a clinical pathology webinar in the comfort of your own home, accumulating a group of cases that you can use
to educate your colleagues.
The goal is to have fun and learn in a non-threatening environment to make a difference in the lives of your patients.
Let’s let the wild rumpus begin and enjoy learning. Dr. Svirsky makes oral pathology fun
