Can my student get a job with a degree in the arts? According to “Artist Employment Projections through 2018,” a report by the National Endowment for the Arts, the professional-and-related occupations category, which includes artists, is projected to increase by nearly 17 percent, seven percentage points higher than the projected growth rate for the U.S. labor force. By studying the arts, your student will have the creativ-ity, discipline, leadership and adaptability to prepare him or her for the workforce, no matter what path he or she chooses. As a parent of an artist, you recognize the passion that your student has for his or her art form. It is an extension of his or her personality, a mode of expression, a chan-nel for individuality. At the UK College of Fine Arts, your son or daughter will find a community of like-minded artists, a social collective that feels that same drive to create and innovate.
