History of University of Florida

The University of Florida was first founded in 1853.

University of Florida is located in Gainesville, Florida.

It was founded for higher education of the public.

Facts about The University of Florida UF has 5,434 faculty members 90% of incoming freshman score above average on standardized tests. UF has received more than 619$ Million in research awards in 2010-11. UF’s annual economic impact exceeds 8.76$ Billion. Since 2006 UF has 8 National Championship titles in sports. Job recruiters ranked UF ninth on the list of Top 25 places where corporations

prefer to recruit new employees. Since 1968, 145 Gators and 13 Florida coaches have earned 91 medals. UF is a national leader in alternative energy research, with strong programs in

ethanol production, and nuclear and solar energy. Florida's largest university , and the nation's fourth-largest - traces its beginnings

to a small seminary in 1853.

Accepting about 50,000 students every year, UF is home to 16 colleges and about150 research centers and institutes.

Why UF interests me

Because they are good in sports. They have a good education system. Because Florida is just a good school all

around.

Athletics

Florida has a very good athletic program.

Florida is the only school in the country to finish among the country’s top 10 in each of the last 28 national all-sports standings.

SEC crowns claimed by the Gators in 2010-11 include men’s basketball, women’s cross country, men’s golf, soccer, women’s tennis, men’s indoor track & field, volleyball and a share of the baseball title.

Florida’s sports teams includes Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball
