BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Professor Siddhartha Sankar Saha is a Professor of Commerce, Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. He has become Dean (Interim), Faculty Council for Post Graduate Studies in Commerce, Social Welfare and Business Management, University of Calcutta. He is member, Senate and Syndicate, University of Calcutta. Professor Saha is also Director, University of Calcutta ―Calcutta Stock Exchange Centre of Excellence in Financial Market (CUCSE-CEFM). Professor Saha previously joined St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, India in 1998 and served the Department of Commerce (Accounting and Finance), St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, India as an Associate Professor. He did his Post Graduation in Commerce from the University of Calcutta in 1994 and was qualified NET under UGC in 1996. Dr. Saha earned his Ph. D in finance, on thesis titled “Role of Merchant Bankers in Corporate Financing (Capital Issue Management) In India” from the University of Calcutta in 2006. He has two decades of teaching experience in the under-graduate in college and post-graduate levels in the University. He is also associated with Professional Institutes including Business Schools during several academic assignments. Professor Saha has been supervising a number of research scholars at the Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta. He has completed a Major Research Project titled, ‘Ethical role of statutory auditor on corporate scam in safeguarding stakeholders’ interest in India & abroad: A comparative study since 1990’ funded by the UGC. Currently, Professor Saha is conducting a major research project titled, ‘Merchant Banking Activities in Indian Primary Capital Market: An Empirical Study during Post-Reforms Period’ funded by the ICSSR. Professor Saha has become a prolific author and he has to his credit 130 published research papers covering accounting and finance issues in leading national and international journals, conference proceedings and edited books like The Chartered Accountant, The Chartered Secretary, The Accounting World- ICFAI, The Management Accountant, Research Bulletin–ICWAI, IPE, Indian Journal of Accounting, Journal of Accounting and Finance , Indian Journal of Research ,Research Journal of Finance and Accounting, USA, European Journal of Business and Management , USA, Information and Knowledge Management , USA, Journal of Contemporary Issues in Business Research ,USA, European Journal of Business Management , USA, Indian Journal of Corporate Governance ,SAGE India Pvt. Ltd , ICFAI University Press, Excel India Publishers, Bharti Publication, Vikalpa-IIM Ahmadabad published by SAGE India Pvt. Ltd, etc. He has also attended several National as well as International Conferences/ Seminars as resource person and presented papers with best paper awards in fields of accounting and finance across the country. He has also been invited to chair sessions or address keynote speech in National/International Conferences in India and abroad. Recently, Professor Saha had visited Taiwan, Republic of China to chair a session of international conference organized by Asian Pacific Conference of International Accounting Issues, California State University, USA. He also attended the said conference in presenting his research paper. This international visit has been made under UGC Travel Grant Scheme and Research Grants approved by the St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Calcutta. Professor Saha has recently authored 10 books on finance titled (a) “Indian Financial System and Markets” published by McGraw-Hill Education (India) Pvt.
