Learning Outcome

At the end of this course in :

Semester 7, students should be able to

1. Recognize the title and scope of research project

2. Identify and apply the methodologies to develop the research

project

3. Carry out the feasibility study and prepare the costing for real

industrial projects

4. Produce literature review of the proposed project.

5. Present and defend their project proposal.

6. Produce a project/technical report.

Semester 8, students should be able to

1. Develop a new system or improve an existing product or prototype.

2. Document and rectify the problems, further redefine and prepare

the complete documentation on the system

3. Execute in sequence the various steps required to

produce/manufacture/test/solve/improve the real life industrial

projects/ problems.

4. Analyze the findings and results of the project.

5. Present and defend their project.

6. Produce a final project/technical report.

Synopsis

In this module students are required to work on a project independently orin a group. The project scope ranges from the identification of industrialneeds to final product, comprising of research & development, designcreativity, teamwork, analysis, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, modification and commissioning. Each student will be assessedindependently. At the end of semester 7, students are given an incompletegrade; full grade will only be given at the end of semester 8.
