Getting closer to Mother Nature, feel the early morning breeze and enjoy the spectacular sunrise on top

of the hill. These were the unforgettable memories among the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN)

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Student Chapter members and also University Nottingham Malaysia

Campus (UNMC) Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Student Chapter members.

In collaboration with UNMC ICE Student Chapter, UNITEN ICE Student Chapter had the first hill climbing

trip with the members and also UNITEN ICE Student Chapters advisor, Dr Chua Kok Hua on 18th

February 2011. After arriving at the entrance of Broga Hill at 6.30 am, a short and brief introduction had

been conducted to make sure that all of the participants will follow the safety measures.

The way up to the hill was tough and steep. Everyone was taking small steps at a time and slowly climb

up the hill. At around 7.30 am, everybody reached on the first peak of Broga Hill and the sun was

shining bright and beautiful. After taking group photos, some of the members continue to climb up tothe second, third and forth peak to enjoy more overwhelming scenery from the top of the hill. We could

see the view of Semenyih Town and also UNMC from the top of the hill.

Climbing down from the hill was not as easy as we thought. At certain part of the hill, because of the

steep slope, we had to slide down from the top. Although sounds dangerous, but most of us were

enjoying it. At around 9.00 am, we departed from Broga Hill to UNMC, which was not far from the hill

    for a visit.

After arriving at UNMC, we had a mini Build and Break Competition with UNMC ICE Student Chapter.

Mixing with them to work in a group to build a bridge from lidi and satay stick was fun because we

got to interact and communicate with each other more than usual. The competition last for 1 hour and

45 minutes and the bridge from each group was tested by slowly increasing the water in the 5 liter

water bottle. If the bridge can sustain the heaviest load until 5 kg, the group will be the winner of the

    competition.

This was a tiring but memorable trip for both UNITEN ICE Student Chapter and UNMC ICE Student

Chapter because we are closer to each other after the hill climbing and the ice breaking session. We

hope that we would have more events that can collaborate with UNMC ICE Student Chapter in future.
